Things that matter:
  1. Fitness tracking (because its a wearable and why else have it)
  2. Battery life
  3. NFC
  4. GPS, Messaging, Music, ect.
  5. Latency
Not being ginormous

Need to wait for the next gen of wearOS chipset wear 429 better speed and better battery managment. IMO not a good time to drop cash when such a big leap is around the corner.

The best smartwatch on the market right now imo is Garmin Fenix 5 Plus. It has a sapphire crystal screen so already the most durable watch. People have banged their watch against walls and stuff with not even a scratch. You can take it scuba diving too Battery lasts 7 days on a full charge Can store music on it so don't need to have a phone with you when you go work out. Has GPS to help you navigate when you go on those hiking trails etc Garmin Pay for when you don't want to carry your wallet The watch is fairly big but it comes in a smaller version as well. The only drawback I think is the price for that watch, around 600$

Honestly? They're all in a rough state right now so if you're going into it not caring about wearOS but needing more battery life/GPS/etc, then go for the Watch Active by Samsung. Otherwise, the Fossil Q Gen 4 Explorist-line is the best.
