Top 10 Cards I'm Most Excited to Play With From Ravnica Allegiance

Hi everyone! I’m Jack Kiefer, if you don’t know me. I’ve been obsessively refreshing the spoilers every few minutes to see what awaits us in Ravnica Allegiance. Now that all the spoilers are out, here is my list of the ten cards I am most excited to play with in Standard: 10. Ravager Wurm
search
This card can be a huge swing. A 4/5 haste plus a way to deal with the blocker seems good. It reminds me a lot of Glorybringer. But my favorite part about Ravager Wurm is the amount of choices that it gives you. You can have the hasty creature that kills their creature or you can have a 5/6 that kills their useful land. Being flexible is an important part about expensive cards. I know I’m going to find an excuse to put these in my deck. 9. Bedevil
search
Hero’s Downfall is exactly what aggro decks needed in this format. Vraska's Contempt was a little too expensive and costing one less mana makes it a good way to deal with big creatures and crucially Teferi, Hero of Dominaria. I've never liked Rakdos very much but Bedevil definitely makes me want to try out some of those kinds of decks. 8. Gutterbones
search
I’ve always liked the Bloodsoaked Champion/Dread Wanderer/Gravecrawler kind of card. Gutterbones does not seem worse than those. Its size and the ability to get it back from the graveyard make it a powerful tool against control. I’m excited to play with this one in Orzhov or Rakdos decks that are aggressive but also care about graveyard synergies. 7. Verity Circle
search
Verity Circle seems like what a blue prison deck wants. It is a repeatable card advantage generator that incentivizes you for doing exactly what you want to do: stop them from attacking you. I think this is solid with its activated ability alone to draw cards but when you add cards like Sleep or Icy Manipulator, this ability becomes unstoppable and something I am definitely going to look into. 6. Priest of Forgotten Gods
search
This requires a lot of set up and it staying alive to be able to work well, but the payoff is amazing. For no mana to activate it, it gets a lot of card advantage while still adding mana for your next play. I could definitely see this alongside other Orzhov Afterlife cards because they allow you to get so many creatures for little mana. Orzhov is one of my favorite guilds and I’m always looking for a way to get those cards to work out. 5. Gruul Spellbreaker
search
Gruul Spellbreaker looks like it's going to be crucial part of Gruul aggro decks. It comes in as a 3/3 haste and is very hard to deal with before it gets its damage. This is also a great way for those decks to fight against Settle the Wreckage. This is also a good card to pair with Llanowar Elves. I've always been a fan of Gruul decks and this makes me want to play them more. 4. Judith, the Scourge Diva
search
This card punishes your opponent for playing anything other than Shock. It creates a fast clock against slow decks while making it harder for creature decks to block. Judith, the Scourge Diva is a good payoff for sacrifice and aggro decks and I think it will pair nicely with the aforementioned Gutterbones. I thought is was good even before I read it twice and realized it could ping creatures and not just your opponent. 3. Pteramander
search
Having one more powerful Drake makes the Drakes decks much more powerful. This one is pretty different though. It is cheaper but requires you to get more spells played earlier. It is possible that this doesn't make the cut in those deck but I'm sure this will find a good home. This might even be good enough in Modern Arclight Phoenix decks. 2. Shocklands
search
Having all the Shocklands means that you can play the deck you want without thinking about the specific colors. There were countless times in the last Standard format that I thought of a deck but the mana couldn’t support it and I am excited to try those decks out in this format. 1. Wilderness Reclamation
search
This card is absolutely insane. Having a card that effectively doubles your mana is great. The fact that it untaps your lands immediately and leaves up your 4 mana to Chemister’s Insight/Settle the Wreckage/Counterspell makes it that much better. When I first looked at this card it seemed like a cool Commander card but then I realized what separates this card from Prophet of Kruphix or Seedborn Muse: it is a cheaper enchantment. It is very hard to kill and casting it a turn earlier makes a big difference. I believe that this will make a big difference in the current standard environment in Nexus of Fate decks. I know I will be playing with this card a lot.

This article could have used a lot more proofreading: capitalization, punctuation, grammar, and style. Good discussion, but the problems were distractions.
