I'm looking for a budget option beginner watch. I like the diver style, and so far my favorite option is this Citizen Promaster Diver. Does anyone know of any other similar good quality watches at (very) affordable prices?

Any of the watches mentioned here are great choices. I'll be that guy and mention the ubiquitous Seiko selection, the SKX - $227 from Long Island Watch on the bracelet. https://www.longislandwatch.com/Seiko_SKX007K2_Watch_p/skx007k2.htm

The Citizen you post above is a good choice, and I love an Eco-Drive movement - grab and go and it will sit on your dresser when not in use and soak up some power for years and years to come. As @StainlessOnly mentioned, Timex has some options. I love what they have been doing drawing on their archive of past designs and updating them. Some really attractive offerings at very affordable prices. https://www.timex.com/browse/men/shop-by-watch-type/diver-inspired-watches/ Happy collecting!

I would recommend the Orient Ray II. It comes with a mineral crystal and a hacking and winding in-house movement. The watch is a strap monster and looks really good with just about any strap you throw at it. The movement is pretty accurate, mine is at +1 second per day (+6 sec. when worn and -5 sec. when stored with dial down at night). The fit and finish exceeds the quality of an average $120-150 watch and more like the $500 range. I don’t think it meets the ISO 6425 standard but I’ve taken mine snorkeling without any problems. The cons are—some have complained about the crown being too small and the bezel being too stiff. Both are a nonfactor for me which is why I proceeded with the purchase. If you want sapphire crystal, I believe the US version comes with it for a higher cost. You can also get the Mako III with sapphire for around $220.

I heartily second the Invicta Pro Diver. I have the 8926OB and the 8927 as well. If you shop carefully, such as Father's Day, you can pick these up for around $70. Amazon has them right now for $85. Both came on bracelets but I switched these out for black rubber (8927) and NATO (8926).

PetrosDThanks for the suggestion. I've seen these a bit from browsing around online, and so far I like what I've seen. Also it's a nice size and not too huge.

I would recommend orient mako II. The mako I was my starter watch and I loved it!

Citizen has pretty reliable options on that price range. Personally, I decided to get an Invicta Signature 7042 with a flame fusion crystal and I LOVE it. It was $115. You can’t go wrong with a Casio Duro as a first watch if you don’t mind the mineral crystal. Edit: it wasn't a Pro Diver, but a Signature 7042.
