Against popular opinion, don't go for a schiit stack, get a jds atom or geshelli's 100$ amp schiit only was good then schiit was the only viable option :/
Z reviews did a comparison between the 100$ amps, not sure if its put for the public yet.
Get a pair of sennheiser hd 6xx or the 58x jubilee for headphones, maybe go for a fostex t50 mod, like the argons for 300$ if you want a more engaging and exciting sound
and dac wise you can go for a micca origen, the 100$ schiit dac or even an audio interface from focusrite (i.e. scarlett solo) - it's also nice if you want to get a xlr mic or so for communication
Use Spotify's highest quality settings and you will be happy.
Z reviews said something about Spotify re-mastering brickwalled tracks and making them much more enjoyable
or just use youtube, don't get caught up with chasing some high numbers, you don't need it.
just download some song from bandcamp get it in flac and mp3 and just compare if you even hear a difference

gory_glory0209Z has a specific taste and approach to hifi, i share a lot of his opinions.
And i agree with you, listening for yourself is better than watching a review, but not everyone has the ability to just buy 2-3 amps and send back what doesn't fit
and z's not alone with preferring the jds atom over the modi
the thing that dragged me into the rabbit hole of hifi is the subjectivity of things.
I love myself a nice warm sound or a neutral headphone, and my dad i.e. loves himself some treble focused cans much more.
It's all about finding a reviewer that shares the same tastes etc as you

JamesFortei used to use usb to get to my old sdac but had some ground loop issue with my eddie current zdt jr so i got a smsl su8, now I'm using my on board optical to feed it
the optical is mainly to decouple all electricity between pc and dac and thus eliminate the ground loop issue.
I also tried to use the stupidly overpriced ifi ipurifier to fix it, but it was useless :/
Edit: i use my pc for 95% of my music consumption.
if you don't have that option and want to kit out your whole apartment/house I'm the wrong person to ask.
but if you have a living room set up i/e and want to use your phone you could get a fiio btr3 and (if you don't have an iPhone :>) use the Bluetooth ldac connection and feed your speaker/headphone amp with that

Ringing in PC38X's
I recently got this headset, and wow is it good. My only issue is when certain people talk on discord, I can hear a really high pitched ringing. I fiddled with a bunch of settings, computer audio and discord, and nothing seems to solve the issue. It is primarily if not all in my right ear only. Is there something wrong with my headset, or was that ringing always there I can just hear it cause the headset is THAT good? I haven't had any issues with any other application, though I have yet to test if I can hear the ringing on a different version of discord, say on my xbox instead of my pc. Only other issue I've had is occasional static, but I can't tell if it's from the headset or the show/game/etc.

Sennheiser PC37X randomly goes bad after disconnecting the cable ?
Greetings, Yesterday I was using my headset like normal with my macbook, just listening to music and on a call with people like usual, and the headset was perfectly fine. The stock wire that came with the headset is extremely long and yesterday it annoyed me very much that it kept getting tangled with itself, so I decided to see if the cable is replaceable. I pulled out the cable from the headset and saw the adapter, and looked online for a replacement. Upon plugging it back in, the audio sounded extremely muffled and washed out. Im not sure what I did wrong to make it mess up like that as I've always taken good care of it, ive had it for about 2 years and its always just been chilling on my desk, but anywho I thought the cable just went bad and ordered a replacement. The replacement came, and the issue is still persistant, so I am not sure what the issue is I've tried multiple different headsets and the issue is not with the port, and I also tried it with my windows laptop and...

Recommendation for my next headphone set? I have Koss 95x
Hey all, What would you recommend I get next and why? I have Koss ESP-95x electrostatic massdrop headphones. These are my first and only audiophile set. I love them. I think my only real requirements is $500 or less for the headphones and that they have a little more low end. I don’t need thump but these are really light on lows…but the experience is still awesome. Also any recommendations on an amp? I only have my electrostatic thingy. I am using the Topping D50 DAC. thx!!

Looking for a gaming/content audio setup
Hello! I'm looking for recommendations on audio setups. I'd be planning on using it mostly for gaming. Preferably I'd like a pair of large closed back headphones since I have a big head and jaw. I'd also like to hear myself through my mic with mic monitoring. As far as budget goes, I don't really have one. But under 600$ would be nice. I can go higher if needed. The audio setup would be connected to a high performance PC. Thank you in advance for any recommendations!

Trying to buy some gear off Drop for the first time. I was told I would receive an email with a welcome to drop $10 off promo. I never received that email. Drop was able to send me emails for my login token and email for Password update. But for some reason the $10 off coupon was never sent to me.

Should I exchange the PC38X for better headphones?
I bought the PC38X headphones FOR GAMING and they are great, but I have NO use for a Microphone since I don't do competitive gaming and I was wondering if there were better headphone options at a similar price without a headphone, where (presumably) more of the cost was put into making it sound better. I also find that my PC38X don't get quite as loud as I would like and I was wondering if a cheap amp like the iFi Go link would draw a little more volume out of my phones. https://www.amazon.com/dp/B0BN6MM822?psc=1&ref=ppx_yo2ov_dt_b_product_details I went with the PC38X since it was considered the best bang for buck headphones.
