Sharing a few shots of my new JTrias cables
more_vert
Custom built for me by a new friend of mine, Mr Jon Trias (aka @jtrias21 ). The plan was to construct a replacement cable for my Hifiman 4XXs (the supplied, single ended cable was far too short) that would also allow me to plug into the balanced jack on my Jotunheim (a port I'd been ignoring since the Van Damme fiasco, several months back). Happy to report: mission accomplished. I'm ecstatic about the quality of the finished product--and before you ask, let me tell you--they do sound as good as they look!

Nice work Jon!

Lol. What? Balanced cables don't transform your life and herald the second coming?

Headphone Stand
I decided to design and build some headphone stands for myself and my friends. It started out with pencil and paper sketching, then it transitioned to a cardboard out-out model, and now I finished the project. I used SolidsWorks to model it and then I transferred it to MasterCam to plan the CNC routing. [image] I am using 3/4 inch wood board and stacking 4 of them on top of each other. The center 2 pieces will have through holes and the out 2 pieces will only have holes cut 1/2 inch in. Then dowel rods and wood glue will be used to make sure the outside faces are nice and pretty. Help w/ gaming headset...
Hello everyone. I need some advice, specifically a recommendation for a new gaming headset / mic for my 13 year old son. He mainly plays Fortnite, Minecraft, Madden, etc... I've bought him a myriad of headsets, only to see them fail within 6 months. (Turtle beach, etc.). I'd like to spend under $200, preferably $150. Thanks in advance. Be blessed.

THX AAA 789 vs LCX
A 'short and quick' impression of the THX AAA 789 as compared to the LCX. I'll first say that the differences aren't earth-shattering but there are differences...differences that bring me to another level of listening enjoyment. The very first things I noticed was that there was more detail at the top end. Stacey Kent's, IT MIGHT AS WELL BE SPRING, off of her Dreamer in Concert album, there were a few things I'm now noticing that I didn't notice before. I can tell you that she's got a moist mouth because you can hear it each time she sings into that mic. There's also a guy coughing in the rear of the room that I didn't hear that with the LCX. In Nils Lofgren's KEITH DON'T GO (Acoustic Live) the audience sounds closer and life-like. It feels like you are standing right next to Nils while he's doing his thing. Alanis Morissette's voice pitch on THAT I WOULD BE GOOD (live/unplugged) gets quite high in octave and the LCX had a hard time keeping up. The 789 laughs at...

Question for 58X owners..
Do any of y'all go ahead and buy the 6XX after buying the 58X just because you're interested in the differences in the sound? I just bought the 58X but after reading reviews on both, I find myself longing to hear the 6XX as well. Thoughts? Cheers!

Overwhelmed With Finding a Set of Headphones
Hello, I am somewhat new to the world of audio, but have always cared about having good sounding music and media. I am looking for a set of open back headphones primarily for gaming (first person shooters) but also want to be able to listen to music. I listen to a lot of styles from metal to jazz; so I’m looking for a well rounded sound. I don’t listen to hip-hip or electronic music much, so bass isn’t a huge concern for me. I have an old amp/receiver (STR-DH100) and use the 1/4” headphone jack. The amp then plugs into my computer. So my question is... What should I be looking at? I’m around the $200 price range but have wiggle room. I want a removable cable, open back, and comfort is important. I have ATH-m40’s and they kill my ears after long gaming seasons. So far the 6XX and 58X Jubilee look appealing. Also seen some people recommend the Beyerdynamic DT 990 PRO Studio (but it lacks a removable cable) as well as the AKG 7XX. Any input would be incredibly helpful. Thanks in...

Any suggestions for wireless headsets to be worn during exercise that won't fall off
I am looking for wireless headphones with a microphone to be worn in the gym. My ears have an atypical inner ear structure and thus none of the so called IEMs that are 'guaranteed not to fall' work for me. I am looking at preferably bluetooth 5, a hook like design that keeps the buds in place and a microphone that will allow me to answer calls while I am working out. Any suggestions would be appreciated. Budget is around USD 100.

Cheap, budget DAC for the Massdrop x HIFIMAN HE4XX?
As the FX Audio DAC(+amp) X6 sold out, it was well within my budget. Is the O2 AMP + SDAC DAC/AMP better than no DAC for $150? Also what are more budget DAC/AMP combos like this one, and more only-DAC combos like this one. (Cheaper)

Recessed 2 pin connectors
[image] As many of you are probably aware of, the 2 pin sockets on the KZ IEMs are different than those on the TFZ IEMs 🙄. The KZs are smaller and rounded, and the TFZ cables do fit on the KZs, but not great (not the vice versa). I’ve read that the recessed 2 pin cables by 3rd party makers, such as the Tripowin C8, fit the KZs. My question is, do any of you know of any recessed 2 pin cables that fit the TFZs? Or do I just need to use regular 2 pin cables, and let the connection remain exposed?

Over-ear closed back headphone for long flight $200?
Taking a long flight coming up at the end of the month. I am looking for an over-ear headphone that won't disturb who I am sitting next to. I am waiting on the arrival of my 6XX's but have read that they may disturb others sitting next to me. I wanted to start researching some options. Does anyone have a recommendation for around $200? I will be using a XdSd to power them/Dac.
