https://www.ebay.com/itm/New-Denafrips-Ares-R2R-Dac-24Bit-384K-Digital-audio-decoder-DAC-amplifier/282350629368 I think same fellow I bought from. Or wait for the Airist, still looks like the best price/performance ratio for stepping into R-2R. I wanted DSD native, so went for the Ares, very nice & real... Or Soekris, not native DSD, but budget friendly: http://www.soekris.dk/

Good morning. I see from profile that you have the Korg DSD DAC 100. Me too, but I am not very happy with the sound. Clean, but thin and digital sounding compared to my ancient California Audio Labs Sigma 2 tube DAC. How does Denafrips Ares compare to the Korg?

The Ares has a liquidity, a life really a presence, that has brought me closest,,, so close I’m good for a bit here... to the sound I have always hoped for... delivers. I believe, well above its price. You are feeding the Korg through Audiogate, with quality files? The Korg 100 should have dedicated clean USB 5V to perform.

Massdrop x Sennheiser HE 0X Electrostatic System
Lets make this happen, a baby Orpheus for the modern audiophile world. We have the Sennheiser HE 1, but no other electrostatic from the company for the audiophile that's looking for the Sennheiser sound at an (way more) accesible price. The system should be based on the HE 60 project, an electrostatic with price-consciousness in mind, as the then HE 90 (Orpheus) was too expensive just as the HE 1 is actually. And just like the 600 series it should have a good build quality but using the famous plastic that Sennheiser is known for, which we still have from the 580 Precision and it is still rock solid. And most importantly, great sound quality paired with an energizer that can deliver (more than) enough power to drive the electrostatic driver. I would suggest the name to be HE 0X (Zero X), as it's a baby HE 1 and an 'X' has always trailed on Massdrop x Sennheiser collaborations. I had previously seen that Will from Collaborations said they had already pitched Sennheiser for the HE X0,...

Needing to find new earpads for Momentum (1st version, not the HD1s)
I picked them up for $50. The earpads just arent that great. Any searching only gets me results for the HD1/Momentum 2.0. They seem to be about 2 in x 2 in. On ear of course.

Question for 58X owners..
Do any of y'all go ahead and buy the 6XX after buying the 58X just because you're interested in the differences in the sound? I just bought the 58X but after reading reviews on both, I find myself longing to hear the 6XX as well. Thoughts? Cheers!

Overwhelmed With Finding a Set of Headphones
Hello, I am somewhat new to the world of audio, but have always cared about having good sounding music and media. I am looking for a set of open back headphones primarily for gaming (first person shooters) but also want to be able to listen to music. I listen to a lot of styles from metal to jazz; so I’m looking for a well rounded sound. I don’t listen to hip-hip or electronic music much, so bass isn’t a huge concern for me. I have an old amp/receiver (STR-DH100) and use the 1/4” headphone jack. The amp then plugs into my computer. So my question is... What should I be looking at? I’m around the $200 price range but have wiggle room. I want a removable cable, open back, and comfort is important. I have ATH-m40’s and they kill my ears after long gaming seasons. So far the 6XX and 58X Jubilee look appealing. Also seen some people recommend the Beyerdynamic DT 990 PRO Studio (but it lacks a removable cable) as well as the AKG 7XX. Any input would be incredibly helpful. Thanks in...

Any suggestions for wireless headsets to be worn during exercise that won't fall off
I am looking for wireless headphones with a microphone to be worn in the gym. My ears have an atypical inner ear structure and thus none of the so called IEMs that are 'guaranteed not to fall' work for me. I am looking at preferably bluetooth 5, a hook like design that keeps the buds in place and a microphone that will allow me to answer calls while I am working out. Any suggestions would be appreciated. Budget is around USD 100.

Cheap, budget DAC for the Massdrop x HIFIMAN HE4XX?
As the FX Audio DAC(+amp) X6 sold out, it was well within my budget. Is the O2 AMP + SDAC DAC/AMP better than no DAC for $150? Also what are more budget DAC/AMP combos like this one, and more only-DAC combos like this one. (Cheaper)

Recessed 2 pin connectors
[image] As many of you are probably aware of, the 2 pin sockets on the KZ IEMs are different than those on the TFZ IEMs 🙄. The KZs are smaller and rounded, and the TFZ cables do fit on the KZs, but not great (not the vice versa). I’ve read that the recessed 2 pin cables by 3rd party makers, such as the Tripowin C8, fit the KZs. My question is, do any of you know of any recessed 2 pin cables that fit the TFZs? Or do I just need to use regular 2 pin cables, and let the connection remain exposed?

Over-ear closed back headphone for long flight $200?
Taking a long flight coming up at the end of the month. I am looking for an over-ear headphone that won't disturb who I am sitting next to. I am waiting on the arrival of my 6XX's but have read that they may disturb others sitting next to me. I wanted to start researching some options. Does anyone have a recommendation for around $200? I will be using a XdSd to power them/Dac.
