Trayvax Just Launched a Knife

Hi guys, not sure how many of you guys have heard of Trayvax before. They are a leather/metal machining company based in the US that primarily makes wallets. Anyways, they just launched a kick starter for their first knife design and it's intriguing. Figured some of you might wanna grab early bird deals if you can.. Price is kinda steep without the deal: https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/trayvax/trayvax-trek-field-knife/posts/2422795 I've had a couple of their wallets and their nylon belt, all have been good quality. The wallets they make are like half leather and half metal, so it's not their first foray into metal working/machining, but it is their first knife.

Retro did not come, it did not go anywhere ...
The knife market has long been waiting for an inexpensive unique friction knife. [image] For 2 days, the knife pretty well raised the money for kickstarter. There are still several samples available for purchase, but the author claims that the series will be very limited due to manual assembly, exactly like retrocars. Find out more on the project page ... [image] #pocketrocketknife #edcknife #frictionfolder

Stedemon C06 flipper - with a little work, a passable EDC
Picked up a couple of these at $56.00 each including shipping from Amazon. [image] Specs: Opened length: approximately 8.5 " [image] [image] Closed length: approximately 4.75" Blade length approximately 3 -7/8" Handle with: approximately .5" wide Weight: 3.6 ounces. Blade material: 440C Blade finish: satin Grip material: Black G10 (other colors available) with black carbon fiber inserts Action: flipper, liner lock Right pocket clip only This picture shows the solid stainless steel liners. The stop pin is part of the blade, and you can see the liner cutouts behind the rear of the blade that the stop pin rides in. [image] About a 1/3 - 50% lockup, depending on how hard you flip the blade. There are no cutouts to access the liner lock, you have to wedge your thumb between the stationary liner and the liner lock to unlock the blade. Not as difficult as it sounds. [image] I like the kwaiken type blade design, but I feel that the Boker Kwaiken is a little too delicate in my large...

My Favorite Pocket Knives
Pocket knives are some of my favorite types of knives. They are so unique in terms of designs, versatility, functionality, brands, etc. Each pocket knife is good for certain situations based on their blade type, size, accessories, and materials. I tend to carry cheap pocket knives with me on my hunting and camping trips, as i'm not as afraid to lose them relative to my damascus steel blades. Here are my favorite pocket knives. You can get any of these at frontierblades.com [image] This first knife is an 8.25" Elk Ridge spring assisted pocket knife. This knife screams heavy duty, and is the best portable hunting knife. I personally use this knife all the time when cleaning and skinning deer. The single edged stainless steel blade is pretty sharp for an elk ridge knife, and is great for making clean and accurate cuts. The simulated bone handle feels pretty good as well, and provides a rather comfortable grip. The great thing about the simulated bone handle is, after several years...

Sand. Drifter.
I make it a point to always bring a knife and multitool even when I go abroad, I always want to be sure that I'm ready for whatever life throws my way. However, not all counties look kindly to travelers with blades and I've heard many horror stories of knives getting confiscated abroad. When travelling, I take my CRKT Drifter, a small cagey little knife with nestled stainless liners and a coated blade measuring less than 3 inches. Its robust design makes it light to carry and easy to clean even after a day in Mui Ne's beautiful sand dunes 😎 (Nha Trang, Vietnam) [image]
