New Site Design makes it MORE DIFFICULT TO BROWSE
more_vert
I am not on mobile. I have an entire 16:9 display yet your website is only displaying three items wide. My view is limited, and now its very difficult to scroll through all the garbage I'm not interested in on your website. A cursory glance at the product picture is all anyone needs, yet now we have to scroll 5 times more to see all the available drops. WHY WOULD I WANT A SIDEBAR TAKING UP MY BROWSING SPACE WHEN THE TOP BAR WORKED PERFECTLY FINE! Who the hell did you let do this?

I actually prefer having a sidebar to having a top bar, but it does need to be hideable. Edit: I stand by what I had said, but I agree that the new UI is not good, as can be seen by my reply to @logic 's and @Fearlessleader's posts. My experience is similar to @wowremy's.

I posted a comment about this elsewhere, but this seems like a better forum for actually discussing it, so: https://www.massdrop.com/talk/22247/beta-massdrop-update

tl;dr: the sidebar and repeated top scroller community nav effectively push all content below the fold and reduce the number of visible columns, making quick summary browsing much more difficult.

That is an issue, however I think that if done right, having a sidebar will actually make those easier. A must-have feature, is the ability to hide the sidebar.

I was just now offered the choice of seeing the new website. Yesterday I was using the nice usable old site. Now I’ve got the atrocious failing UI-basics website. Viewing all drops sorted by newest now shows about 4 on a screen while yesterday it was about 12-15 on a screen. Why so few now? Because the full left third of the screen is now covered by a JS list of my communities. Failed basic UI design: to take up so much screen real estate by unwanted unchanging stuff making what we’re looking for much harder to see & find!

I think that if they had: 1. removed the top bar and moved it's content to the sidebar; 2. hidden the sidebar by default, with it showing when the cursor is hovering over it; 3. organized the sidebar in a tree-like layout; and 4. shrunk the the drop sizes while reducing the wasted the space; it could have been a success, since it would have been much more useful. My situation is worse, I only see 3 drops per row on my laptop (15.6" 1366x768p, with UI elements slightly shrunk, and 100% zoom level).

”if they had”... don’t bother with a long list of to-dos. It’s either: turn on/off the one third wasted on the left, or not do that at all - do not waste screen real estate is a key must!

Cont... We know what communities exist. We know what communities we are interested in. Why would we need every community displayed on the left while browsing? Rhetorical question. God forbid you made the website easier to use as a forum. Now we have "Shop" instead of "Drops". The Discuss > All display.. Pitiful! How will I ever know what is being discussed on this website when the only way to see the discussions is scrolling down endlessly through post one at a fucking time with title font that doesnt stick out, pictures on every post, cluusttterrrrrfuckkkkk.
