There Are Pandas, and Then There Are Pandas.
And this isn't either of them! The Pandas we're talking about here, are watches, not bears. And what got me thinking about them (again) was a link posted this morning by @cm.rook who pointed a few of us to the very attractive (and not terribly priced) Yema "Rallygraph" Panda which, in it's most traditional arrangement, looks like the one on the left, but can also be had in the version on the right: The model on the left is a true Panda, while the model on the right is called a reverse Panda. The reason for that distinction is clear--Panda bears, only come in the first arrangement. Now at this point, everyone should be thinking about the most well-know Panda, The Rolex Panda, which is actually a Daytona, and among Rolex Daytonas, the most famous of which is the Paul Newman Daytona, which was famous first, because it was Paul's, and second because it sold at auction for $17.8 million (US Dollars). The story of that auction is well-known so I'll only...

Desk pad is Glorious PC Gaming Race. My desk would be awful without it. I built the desk out of about 1.5 pallets. Turned out good, but I wanted it to have that hip repurposed look, so it isn't super smooth or completely flat.
Only complaint on the desk pad is it stains pretty bad.
Respect man. ;)
Material costs were less than beer costs. Unless you count them as one and the same!
We used only wood from the two pallets I snagged from work. My goal was to make something for almost nothing, out of what is considered garbage by most people. I bought one small can of fast drying clear coat, which was ~$15. We used some old varnish, that we weren't even sure would dry completely it was so ancient. I didn't clear coat the inside of the desk, the legs and skirting only got one coat because we wanted them to look rough, and the top got three coats.
I strongly encourage others try this out. My buddy that I made this with was very skeptical at first, "That is junk wood!" As it started to come together he was shocked by how well it was going. Ya gotta understand that pallets are not made from wood that is dimensionally the same. The length will be close but not the same. The width of the boards will be alllllllll over the place. That said, a little bit of creativity and determination goes a long way. Next pallet build will be a shelf, but that will wait until it isn't so nice outside.
Anywho, it was a fun project, I will post a pic of the bottom so you can see what I mean clearly. I might even clean my messy desk and take a pic of the finished product with everything on it! :)
Beer costs were far more than $15.
I too have had to quit coffee, the acidity does not agree with my guts anymore. Check out the high caffeine teas from Republic of Tea if you need a breakfast boost!
Great info that you use the blades like you do. I'm not a blade guy but I'm always looking. So thank you for having experience for my future endeavors. :D
I went on vacation a while back, didn't take a knife cuz I didn't check a bag. Felt naked the whole week without a knife.
