To help you get to know the people behind our Staff Picks collection, we asked each team member a little about themselves, how they got interested in their favorite community, and what else they’re doing these days. Read the Q&A, check out their picks, and use the comment section to ask questions or just say hello.

Meet Tyler, who’s all about the Photography Community.

Q: What do you do at Massdrop?
A: The role has evolved quite a bit in the 2.5 years I've been at Massdrop, but I am now a part of what we officially call the Vendor Relations team. In the day-to-day that means coordinating closely with vendors from the minute the drop ends and we place the group's order to the point where we've shipped everything complete and packages are en route to your doorstep. We've done a lot in the time I've been here to improve this process and create a better experience for both our vendors and the community and I'm looking forward to all that's ahead!
Q: What do you like most about working at Massdrop?
A: It's become somewhat of a cliché answer to questions like this, but it's honestly the people. Everyone here lives and breathes the communities we have on the site. The passion and dedication is tangible in all that we do. I started my first day at Massdrop unsure of what a mechanical keyboard was and believing that Beats By Dre were the best headphones on the market. I'm now typing on a White Fox and listening to music through a pair of HD 6XXs that I woke up at 6 am to buy. The enthusiast bug bites hard when you're an employee at Massdrop and it's a direct byproduct of the people who work so hard to serve the community.
Q: How did you get into photography?
A: I guess it was sort of destined to happen. Growing up I always had a fairly creative/artistic side but it mostly manifested itself in drawings and other mediums. When Instagram grew in popularity and I finally got my hands on an iPhone I started to see the world in a different way. Casual walks became photo adventures and I loved the challenge of finding beauty in the ordinary day-to-day moments. Not much has changed since then, and while I still enjoy shooting on iPhone, my journey has led to me embrace the use of both DSLRs and various film cameras as well.
Q: What are some of your favorite products in that community?
A: For me, it all began with the Canon EOS 100D drop before the Photography community was even its own thing. I learned a lot of the fundamentals on that little guy and eventually leveled up to the full-frame, more capable Canon 6D, which is my go-to camera these days. Recently I've been really enjoying it paired with the Canon 50mm f/1.8 which is a great prime lens for the cost. As far as accessories go, I've loved the brown leather Gordy's camera strap that I got awhile back as well.
Q: What are some of your other hobbies/interests?
A: When I'm not out taking photos, you can find me reading up on the latest sports uniform gossip via uni-watch.com or between local cafes in search of the best drip coffee.

Is there anyone in this forum experienced with computer monitors used for video editing? I would like to hear 1st hand experience about look fors, companies to avoid and consider, specs etc. I have begun my research and this is another avenue for me to enhance my knowledge. Plus perhaps if there are others interested we can set up a drop.

I own the Canon 5D mk iii camera body and several L series lenses. I moved to a full frame camera as I improved my own skills and quite frankly had the money. The combination of the full frame capabilities combined with a better quality lens not only makes a difference, but a significant difference from the quality of photos taken, or that can be taken under such conditions as low light. Recently I upgraded to the Canon 70-200mm EF f2.8 L IS USM lens and the quality is exceptional. I am exceptionally pleased with the quality of the build, versatility and quality of photos shot.
