To help you get to know the people behind our Staff Picks collection, we asked each team member a little about themselves, how they got interested in their favorite community, and what else they’re doing these days. Read the Q&A, check out their picks, and use the comment section to ask questions or just say hello.

Meet Duncan who’s all about the Tech Community.

Q: What do you do at Massdrop? A: I am the Community Content and Social Media Manager. Content manager for short. I handle basically anything that we do on our site and on our social platforms when it comes to content. I'm virtually brand new to the team, but I've been here for two and half months. Time flies when you're having fun.
Q: What do you like most about working at Massdrop?
A: The people. And I mean that inside and outside of the office. It's very familial at Massdrop and it's a pleasure just showing up to work, but there's also loads of amazing people in the communities themselves. I'm starting to get more directly involved with our communities and interacting with everyone has been awesome.
Q: How did you get into tech?
A: I've always been intrigued and fascinated with everything tech. I took apart VCR's when I was a kid, and nowadays I'm just trying to keep up with the internet of things. Tech evolves so fast and that's what continuously retains my interest. I look forward to a day where contact lenses can project things into our augmented reality, but for now I'll settle for wireless charging and smart bulbs.
Q: What are some of your favorite products in that community?
A: I'm constantly blown away by microSD cards. Having grown up in the early 90's to see something the size of your thumbnail hold up to 256GB is amazing. That, and I like smart lighting. I just ordered some smart LED strip lighting that I'm going to have some fun with at home.
Q: What are some of your other hobbies/interests?
A: I love bike touring. My wife and I, and sometimes a few of our friends, will pack up a few nights worth of camping gear on our bikes and travel 40-ish miles out of town in any direction and spend a weekend on the road. Great way to get away from it all.

Hey Duncan! If you were to pick one piece of tech, what is the most essential?

Hair2.0HairFibersThe classic "if you were stranded on an island, and only had one piece of tech" question haha.
Honestly, I can't do just one, but I'll tell you what my gut response was when I saw the question. I'm a big proponent of power banks. I have a solar-powered 20,000 mAh at home and it's saved me so many times. Long flights without an outlet, camping, and even when my Xbox controller is about to die. I have smaller less bricky ones too but I have to say this is an essential.
