ALF's DC60 has completed an alpha run private GB and an international GB in GH. DC60 features an elegant and pragmatic design with a myriads of customization opportunities. Given the current success, it is ALF's ambition to take it one step further to make it available for more customized keyboard fans. Therefore, we'd like to share the design and information about this project to the Massdrop community, to gather feedback, to prepare for a possible collaboration with Massdrop if enough people are interested.
Let us know what you think! And maybe it will happen on Massdrop!
DC60 features a tray mount design, with a case, a plate (CNC alu or brass), and a highly customizable PCB. This PCB allows for layouts such as standard ANSI, Standard with arrow clusters, Split shift with 2u left Shift, Split Backspace, Minila, and more! Here is one with Minila layout:
10 different colors are currently available, including a much-anticipated Everest white color. I will...
Hey my keeb friends, it's your boye oldcat here, to present a design in collaboration with airpotter from Gray Studio.
Krauth summarized René Descartes' philosophy succinctly, "That cannot doubt which does not think, and that cannot think which does not exist. I doubt, I think, I exist." As a fan of and heavily influenced by Descartes' Philosophy, I combined the key term with some design choices of this board, and named it "Think6.5°".
Think6.5° has been more than 3 months in the making, and the prototype is currently being made. I think it is a good time to gather some final feedback for a potential production version. My original plan was to make about 10 boards (at a relatively high price) for myself and friends, but PCB maker is not willing to just make 10. Potter asked me about doing a GB to lower cost of production, if enough people in the community are interested. So here it is:
Motivations and Design Choices
1. It is a design that I...
In the previous chapters of our Eden chronicles, we’ve come to learn about the mighty Dragons of the East Sea, and the cheerfully dynamic Koi fish in the Zen pond, both filled with absolute essence from the magical world of Eden.
Dating back to the late 18th century, Betta fish has long been a legendary warrior symbol in the Eden world, arousing curiosity from every corner of this land as everyone wanted to capture, tame, or see them at least once in real life. But in the early days, hardly did anyone know that Betta is extremely territorial, carrying a massive sense of aggression in their blood, especially the males. Let me elaborate in this scenario for you to imagine more easily on how aggressive Betta can get. If inhabiting together in the same area, they can attack each other until death if the surrounds are too close. Simply put, Betta fish are certainly not friendly neighbors. They are solitary soldiers...
An original Alien inspired keycap set - (enthusiastic newb)
UPDATE: I am going to make these, but I need help figuring out how! More details at the bottom.
Hey! I've only just stumbled onto the world of mechanical keyboards after seeing them pop up in a lot of my other hobby networks, and it gave me an idea. I'm a game & graphic designer with a love of good world & production design. I've always loved the graphic and production design by Ron Cobb for Alien (1978) and decided to do a layout inspired by his Semiotic Standard design. Yes, there are very littoral extrapolations of his work (re: copies) but I wanted to develop something unique but likely from the same universe (with a pinch of 1982's Blade Runner in there too).
I laid these out with WASD's templates, but am curious what other companies/services could produce these keycaps? (could Massdrop if there was interest?) I'm a very experienced graphic designer (for print, web & interactive) but this is my first foray into keyboards, so any advice is greatly appreciated! I also...
EDIT: I'm not longer planning on doing this. Feel free to leave interest here in case someone else wants to pick this up. I bought Ducky PBT double-shots and they've been great. Some tips if you do the same:
Use the ]} for the 3# key so it's the right profile. Likewise, use the KP8 key for 8* instead of the 8* key. Use alt/ctrl/win as the modifier keys on the left and right. Use KPenter and KP0 for the thumb buttons. Ask mechanicalkeyboards.com (where I bought my keys) for an extra KPenter/KP0 if you order from them, they were able to help me out with that for an extra $5. I decided to leave some keys properly labeled rather than have them be mislabeled and PBT. I don't know of where to get tall PBTs, so those are still OEM.
Here's what mine looks like:
I'm just gauging interest here for now, but how many of you would be interested in buying a PBT Keycap set from Signature Plastics? The price would likely be ~$100 plus or minus depending on # of buyers.
This is a little daisy pcb, with mathias click switches. I used two mats (one green and one of cream-colored foam) to modify the transmission of the switches on the aluminum of the case. The sound resembles that of the old keyboards of the past. Keycaps are thick double shot from thaihao. The result is a compact, but really solid keyboard with a soft, but firm and noisy touch. Here a little video.
Based on the trend of wireless technology, we try to add the function of Bluetooth 5.0 to the cyberboard. But we ran into a problem: the antenna would be obscured by the aluminum alloy case.
So we need to make a hole in the front to expose the antenna, and then we cover it with a piece of non-metal material.

hello guys , this is Crazy Designers from China!
Just like our name, we are a team of crazy designers, and the [Cyberboard] is a big project now we're working on. The inspiration comes from the Cybertruck of Tesla.
It's still in R&D, so we are collecting your preference for color options we should be offering.
Please kindly fill out the poll form here: https://forms.gle/hFR7pCeWJwba9HqG9
