CRKT 2490 Squid

more_vert
Just picked up a CRKT 2490 Squid, I paid less than $20 which sounds cheap but it already seems much better than the M-Tech USA MT-425BK I was using as an EDC for the past few years. The CRKT Squid is a bit heavier and slightly longer but is also much thinner, stronger, and sharper. The Squid alonf with it's clip fits perfectly into the coin pocket of my jeans and should serve as a great companion for those moments when I need a blade. It's small size is all I ever really need as all of my previous knifes were simply too big for the odd jobs and task at hand. I'm always ready to upgrade if needed, but I'm looking forward to seeing if the Squid will fit my limited needs.
  • CRKT 2490 Squid
  • Blade: 2.25in 8Cr13MoV drop-point stone washed steel w/friction grooves
  • Handle: 2Cr13 stone washed steel with frame lock and deep pocket non-reversible clip.
  • Full Length: 4.49in
  • Weight: 3.4oz

I still have a lot to learn about knives but this brand and model seem to fit the bill for now. I expect to replace it with something better at some point next year as I continue my homework on all things blades. I disassembled the MTech and tossed the parts into our recycle bin…blade went into the regular trash.

I am super happy whenever someone upgrades from an Mtech. Dangerous garbage, Mtech.
The Squid is a great little knife.
