I decided to test my theory on equal ground so I brought my Logitech Z-2300 PC speaker to my TV and hook up to the same source. I even take turn to place them on the wooden stool so they're playing at the same height/distance so it's fair for the comparison test (except Logitech subwoofer in middle and Edifier has no sub). LOL excuse the mess since I'm testing but normally it's not this messy.

As you can see here, the picture is taken when I was testing Logitech Z-2300, when I test the Edifier S1000DB I'll place them on the same stool.

The shocking thing is, I think I actually like the Logitech sound better as a whole despite the fact that the satellite speakers are tiny. The Edifier just sounded a little bit thin and lack low end, granted I think it has a little bit more detail in the mid range but the Logitech just feels a bit more punchy and clean and more "full range" as a whole. The Logitech also is cheaper. Brand new it's about half of what Edifier costs and these days you can find it for wayyyyyyy cheaper on second hand market.

Honestly if it weren't for the crazy wired remote I'd probably just use the Logitech as my TV speaker, but since it doesn't have a remote it will get quite messy if I end up going this route. I still haven't got around to purchase the subwoofer yet but looks like in the long run that might still be the best choice given the situation. Just find if funny how 10 years later and about 1/2 the price and I still like the Logitech Z-2300 better. :P
