Finding the Right Fabric

To make this jacket, we’re working with two partners in parallel: Intermax Co. in Vietnam will manufacture the garments themselves, while OneChang—a mill in South Korea—will provide the fabric. Known for developing fabrics for some of America’s most recognizable outdoor brands, OneChang is helping us create a brand-new material that will be completely unique to us. We want our fabric to be softer and less noisy than what you see on a lot of wind shells out there today. It’s also important for this material to be both windproof and breathable, with a breathability rating of about 5–7 CFM that will make it suitable for more strenuous activities. For comparison, many wind shells on the market have a rating of 0 CFM, which means no air can pass through. That’s great for windproofing, but not so great when you’re feeling sweaty and clammy while jogging on a hot day.
