DuncanFun fact: Advertising to your exception cases instead of your main audience is a poor use of your advertising budget. And blowing sockpuppet off in this way is gaslighting. You, sockpuppet, and I all know knives, keyboards, and audio are all some 90% male hobbies at the high end put forward on this site, and yet all three of them are represented by women in your promotion? No one said there aren't attractive female knive collectors, and I'd imagine hardly any knife collector would object to there being more. So you guys aren't fooling anyone as to what you're trying to do in your spot, and responding as you do right here, you're just being a jerk. Then again swapping a known name that isn't unwieldy for a single syllable name with much less clout isn't exactly a top strategy to begin with.

JonAngryAnd I notice they chose not to use an attractive female to advertise their women's underwear products. Was hoping MD would take that community in the direction of Victorias Secret ;- )

JonAngryTons of women are active in the MK community (including me), and I know plenty of women audiophiles. And the last non-cooking knife I bought was for my (adult) little sister. The rebrand to Drop is, however, deeply stupid and a huge mistake, especially on top of site layout changes that have made it harder than ever to navigate, pull up useful information for each listing, etc. Though I'm sure that's exactly what they're hoping to facilitate: Impulse purchases based on photos rather than researched decision-making based on technical specs, reviews, and community discussion.

DuncanThey all gave me the hee-bee-gee-bees. Should have hired real Hollywood actors; you know—people who look more like you and me ;- )

eponymous@eponymous I suppose I have to repeat myself: No one said there aren't (attractive) female knife (or audio, or keyboard) collectors. But do any of those categories have a female as their top purchaser? Do any have a female in their top five? The slight on Drop's part isn't recognizing female consumers, it's choosing to recognize their most female consumers over their most loyal ones.

JonAngryYou realize it's uhhhh super-creepy to refer to women as "females" right? And that complaining that including women in a video somehow disrespects men is uhhhh pretty misogynistic, too, right?
