For the love of god please stop branding exclusive products if you stick with this terrible name. Drop X Sennheiser and Drop X Fostex sounds like absolute crap and is a reason not to buy. Not going to lie my first thought when I see Drop is poo.

anort3Out of curiosity, you would not buy a product (an average to above average product), just because the name of it is (in your opinion) bad?

erickongDepends on what it is and if I can get it elsewhere without a name on it that I hate. The THX 789 and ( probably, I want to see more reviews ) the Ether CX are on my 'to buy' list no matter what they have on them. Something like the ( I'm generally here for the audiophile stuff if you can't tell ) Meze 99 Noir......I might just spend another $100 to get the actual 99 Classics to not have Drop printed on them. Massdrop was a great name. Drop is a flop. I really think this was some new marketing guy or VP's idea and not something the community wanted or needed. I hope it doesn't end up killing the business. Make a name for yourself by collaborating with some of the brands out there and creating amazing exclusive products that are in some cases better than the originals and cheaper. Then raise prices, redesign the website in a way that makes it less user friendly and harder to use and ....change the name you worked so hard to build. Sounds like a great way to go out of business to me.

anort3Oh gotcha, it's about product branding, but just the name in general. I spend a lot of time in the blades and mech key communities. They hate branding. Knife lovers usually didn't want "Massdrop" printed on their blade. For the latest ArmourLite X Massdrop watch, people didn't like the branding by the date indicator. For a keyboard, some companies put their logo above the arrow keys for TKL's and people despise that.

erickongI also have a decent little knife collection even though I didn't buy them here. I don't mind seeing Bark River, Spyderco, ESEE or Fallkniven on the blade. I wouldn't mind Massdrop on it either. Drop though? Yuck.

anort3Just got word. Products that are already being produced and were produced as "Massdrop Made". The branding on those products will not change to reflect the new brand name

AnzialOr in French: in phrase drop trou
US  informal
  • Pull down one's trousers, especially in public as a humorous stunt.
