The last of omega eta

more_vert
I’ve been thinking about the lack of eta movements available for watch brands and them having to use selita now this has been coming for over a decade swatch group couldn’t cut supplies overnight they had to faze out the supply in order to give enough time to watch companies to get an alternative swiss made off the shelf movement well now times up and selita is the replacement if they don’t design in house and even omega which is owned by swatch has all in house movements this is probably the last eta they installed the modified 2892-2 with a co axial escapement of course the eta is not extinct but it might just cost us a bit more money to Acquire

I’ve got a Aqua Terra coming... it’s got the 2500 movement. Do you know much about this movement?

Truelove1Being co axial they beat at 25.200 bph your omega i believe is28.800 bph but it’s hardly noticeable being co axial there’s longer intervals between service like 7-10 years im impressed with mine as far as accuracy and the date snaps at 12:00:10 every single night well at least every time I’m up and look at it

Beautiful watch. I have always been a fan of Omega and love my Seamaster. I am less concerned though about the current market switch Sellita. Ultimately the company that puts its name on the dial is responsible for the final quality control. I can not imagine Omega ever getting complacent in that regard and would buy an Omega/Sellita without hesitation. ETA has a cache and long history of quality going back to the days it was spinoff from Eterna and certainly feeling a bit nostalgic, but I have been pleased with both Sellita movement watches I own, as well. Accurate and consistent.

My point was 2017 was the last year before omega went fully in-house with the metas standard movement and being a member of the swatch group you might say even by using eta it would be considered in-house with that being said omega will never have the need to use selita i would like to take this time to apologize to anyone i might have offended in terms of selita let me end by saying let’s just enjoy our watches weather being in-house eta selita quartz solar or sundial

ED61Absolutely. I should have read your original post more thoroughly. And although I love watches and several brands, my knowledge of many brands and their history and milestones is cursory at best. We all have different things that bring us to love watches. There is a watch for everyone and a group of enthusiasts for every watch.
