Testing Local Shipping in European Union -  PART 2!

search

This is another test.
Hey everyone, Great news! We’re ready to kick off the next phase of our local shipping test for the EU. See the talk post for the initial test here. We’re now prepared to open up a larger collection of products to keep moving toward a more consistent and better experience in EU markets. The products will be available to ship from our test warehouse in Europe with delivery expected within 5 business days to the majority of locations. Most will arrive at your door with no post office pickup, though some exclusions apply, depending on your address. All prices in this test have been adjusted to include VAT, shipping and handling, and will be in USD. Quantities are limited so do not delay.
We’ve made a collection that includes the available products here:

PLEASE NOTE: The products in this collection have been specifically set up for this shipping method. These are: · Massdrop x Sennheiser HD 6XX Headphones - EU · Massdrop x Sennheiser HD 58X Jubilee Headphones -EU · Massdrop x Sennheiser PC37X Gaming Headset - EU · Massdrop x Fostex TR-X00 Ebony Headphones - EU · Massdrop x Fostex TR-X00 Mahogany Headphones - EU · Massdrop x Fostex TR-X00 Purpleheart Headphones - EU · Massdrop x AKG K7XX Audiophile Headphones - EU · Massdrop x AKG K7XX Red Edition - EU · Massdrop x Noble Kaiser 10 Universal IEMs - EU · Massdrop x NuForce EDC3 In-Ear Monitors - EU · Massdrop x NuForce EDC In-Ear Monitors - EU · Massdrop Liquid Carbon X + SDAC DAC/Amp - EU

Here are some answers to some possible questions you might have:

What is VAT? Simply put, “Value added tax” or VAT is an indirect tax, which is imposed on goods and services at each stage of production, starting from raw materials to final product. It is applied in EU countries. Why am I being charged in USD instead of Euros? As this is a test, our system isn’t currently set up to properly support other currencies. This will not be part of a permanent solution. What’s the quantity limit for purchasing any of these products? It will actually vary per product. Sometimes the limit is 50, others the limit is 3. The quantity limits should be clear when you’re checking out. What happens if there’s a problem with my order? If you have an issue with your product or order, the process will be the same as with our other products. You can enter a ticket with our support team (www.drop.com/support) and they’ll be able to help you out. What happens next? This is a part of the next step, but we want this to lead to a more permanent solution in giving members living in Europe a better overall experience and meet the demand of our products in this and other markets. We will keep you posted on how this rollout may happen and which products beyond those in this test will be supported.

prices are too high :( If i buy the 58x directly from the US is cheaper compared to buying them in EU,even with taxes.

Crea1986
Dang, sorry. Well.. hopefully that is alleviated when we roll out the longer-term, permanent solution whenever that may come.
Finally, but prices are way too high and not really worth it compared to same products shipped from USA. I mean HD58X is 160$ (already increased from 149$ that it was not so long ago!), and now EU version is 50$ more expensive... that's ridicilous especially when the product itself is made in Europe.... I'm gonna hold my horses and wait for a discount.
(Edited)
Always wanted to "drop" but the import fees ruined the deals, so I really want support the test with a Sennheiser PC37X purchase. However, I'm can't find any references to whether it also includes a set of leatherette earpads, or if it only ships with velour ear pads. If anybody know please comment!
The "Massdrop x Alex Cavalli Tube Hybrid Amp (CTH)" was part of the first EU shipping test and since then the Drop US site doesn't allow shipping of the unit to the EU. Right now it's not possible to have this amp shipped to the EU at all. Is this correct? When can we expect this to the available to EU customers again? Many thanks!
@Duncan Would you be able to tell us some more about the plan or tell us when you're going to be able to do that? I'm mostly interested in the keyboard stuff but it's just too expensive to buy from the US when VAT, shipping and import fees are added.
Sebbo
Yeah, totally hear that. Keyboards is the next community we'd love to tackle. If there was a specific plan laid out for that, I'd let ya know, but at this point it's one step at a time. As soon as we have the basis for that kind of test, I'll certainly be letting y'alls know.
Does this mean you are committed to local/european delivery and are just testing out the logistics/finances on how to finalize this or could the whole order-from-EU plan still be scrapped?
sntXrrr
Yes. Basically, working out the flow and process with the warehouse that we have setup in the EU currently, but ultimate goal is permanent solution. Our efforts to offer a consistent/better experience for this wouldn't be scrapped, rather, worst case scenario is that they're set back for whatever reason. It's in our mission as we grow to keep pushing for this no matter what.
Duncan
I love to read the words "permanent solution"... <3
I wish the next drop test would include mechanical keyboard accessories :x
Vaderlander
Me. too.
Have you checked local pricing in the EU on all items? You're offering a Massdrop x AKG K7XX, "inspired by the legendary AKG K702" for $260, which is about €230. The AKG 702 goes for €129 at the moment. Am I missing something here?

Yeah but even the AKG 712 Pro are cheaper here at least, and i can pick them up the same day. But AKG's have always been a lot cheaper in Europe. Not bashing Drop here I just think it's important they know there might be other reasons than interest that they might not be selling.
Hamsteren
it's not an akg 712 pro, it's an akg k702 65th anniversary, a limited edition, you can search for it on google. Btw I don't know exactly it's quality but it should be a little bit better than 712 pro or just different, I don't remember, but the price is right imo, since is 230€ vs 225€(here in Italy) of the k712 pro
New video about Drop Europe on my YouTube channel (in italian language)! :) https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Kk7Yt8sLsSY
Still no Massdrop Plus. :(

any ETA you can share? I get a very nice salary hike next month :D
simon--poole
I do not, unfortunately. Congrats on the promotion though! Wish we had what you wanted so you could celebrate that.
The prices don't seem too bad. The HD6XX's are 280$, which is about 250€ right now. The HD650 start new at about 320€ and the HD600 at about 280€, at least here in Germany.
Any hope we will ever get the THX AAA 789 ?
Oxnitron
Would be nice. Hard to print enough of those bad boys for our regular territory... Working on that though.
i hoped the hifiman 4xx were back :-( all a bit too pricy to my taste...

what do you adviste then ?

V-Moda M100 perhaps
Good news everyone!
The prices seem far from hot. 6XX from USA is $235 w/ shipping, while European version is 280. Depending on the country VAT rate in EU, the shipping from USA is likely to be cheaper, even if you were to apply VAT afterwards as the customs fees are usually low in most countries. In some countries you can even luck out and end up not paying, even on the bigger packages (my 6XX ended arriving without VAT and customs). Other than the delivery speed, the EU warehouse option does not seem to offer benefits that would sway me.

I am perfectly happy with the pricing: At least here in Germany, the VAT is 19 percent and calculated including(!) the shipping costs. Thus the 235 USD US-price for the HD 6XX incl. shipping amounts to a total of 279.65 USD when importing.  Additionally to the 45 USD VAT - depending on the delivery services - I would have to pay tax/customs handling fees of up to 40 USD and/or (if I am unlucky), I have to take half a day off, drive to the next customs office (NOT the nearby post office) which is about 20 Miles away (although I am living in one of the biggest cities in Germany) and wait there in queue to pick up my package after inspection. I don't know where you live but it never happened to me that such a package is not registered by the customs officers. Thus I just bought the HD 6XX (EU) - although I already own the HD 660s - which I would not have done when I would have to import it from the US. I am thankful that (Mass)Drop finally started to see this opportunity.

And you can get the k712 for quite a bit cheaper than the 7XX... which doesn't really make sense.
>Still not shipping to Russia
Nice for you to continue this, but as I already have the X00's and HD660s I'll be skipping this round. +1 for the effort though.
Happy to see more products. Sad to see that is again a test. Only 12 products for Europe, while 311 products for USA. And only headphones, no other kind of products. I hope this test ends soon and Massdrope Europe (Drop Europe, ok) become reality.

Exactly, the amazing italian youtuber! :D
support for what? i already have more IEMs than i'll ever need (and the ones offered here aren't that good anyway), and the one pair of closed headphones i have is more than enough (as only the gf uses them). how can i support when they're not selling anything that would interest me? how can i let them know that there's lots of stuff i'd buy if they offered it, when they're not offering it?
