same except the swords and fixed blades , i have a huge amount of Spyderco bags and mtech and generic bags or rolls and went to academy and bought the big ( for gun safes ) silica packs and our house is at a constant 68 degrees and very dry . ( hence maintaining the leather sheaths ) just ordered a para 3 in maxamet and grey g10 , that actually had them in stock on Amazon for 191$ !! they go for 220 to 270 $ on ebay so i jumped at it , as the last time i waited they were gone in minutes ! as well as a cold steel ad 15 ( big beefy knife with a cool lock and was able to get it for 150$ .

FlericGood on the PM3-Maxamet. :) you should post a pic if you end up liking it. I read that they might be sharpest when given a coarse grained grind, which is interesting. I really wanna see that for myself but I’ve resigned myself to a wait for a PM2 in Maxamet, because I’m not trying to pay more than $190 or so for mine. The PM2 prices are outright speculative right now. People want a lot for them. And TBH I almost got one anyway. But sometimes you just gotta let things develop. S110V PM2s were this hard to get and this expensive for a while. I figure it’s worth more than S110V right now due to its newness but when I see people trying to get three hundred bones for a Maxamet PM2 something tells me to lay up and wait for a bit and let the earliest adopters discover what NOT to do, because either the price is coming down or I will see confirmation that it is worth the premium before I pay it.

reswrightYeah I wanted the pm2 as well I have it in s110v ,s30v,s35vn, and that’s it for now but yes, the pm2 prices are insane , I managed to get the pm3 for 191 which shot up to 230 right after ecop sold out my other pm3 is in m4 with the clear g10 from blade hq or is it 4v , anyways I would love to get either in m390 or 20cv but god very pricey , it so funny how crazy the prices can be just based on the platform when you can get good m390 for less than 150 , the one that really suck is trying to get the spyderco slechz ( bad speller) Bowie, they are up in the 750-900$ range for a 320$ knife , I have the brothers ( spydie chef , techno 2 ) but no way am I paying over 400$ ever for a knife ( deminishing returns ) and as of yet 250$ is the most I’ve payed ( I’d techish war admiral v2 ) still waiting for it . But yeah it can get crazy fast lol

FlericThe one thing about getting these metals on a Spydie or the like: you know that steel got professional treatment. They have too much to lose by cheaping out. But yeah, they make you pay through the nose.

reswrightcedric and ida ( on YouTube ) known for testing steels , actually gave buck a better score on thier steel than benchmade ( BOS treated ) steel from buck is awesome stuff , then i would say benchmade then spyderco then ZT since ZT has had known issue's with thier heat treatment and Spyderco tends to run just a tad lower Rockwell than benchmade but not by much , all very good steels but i hope someday soon they get rid of any 8cr or lower on the cheap knives and go with 9cr or d2 the fact that leatherman and kershaw and especially gerber using 3cr and 5cr and 7cr for almost everything and leatherman using not so good 420hc on a 150$ multitool is so insane go with 154 cm or s30v on at least the blades ! and gerber get up to 9cr please , the flat iron uses 7cr! i am not a steel snob but mostly looking at price vs what your getting , maybe some Swedish steel ? 12 or 24 ? or vg 10 ( btw that is one of the most overpriced steels ) i seen vg10 on 120-1000$ plus knives insane ! ok I'll get of my stool lol

FlericThe thing about Buck that I like is that they realize that they are in it for the long haul. And they realize that the latest and keenest steel always changes as time goes on but that good blade treatment doesn’t ever go out of style. I respect the fact that they push their steel to its optimum state instead of just wowzing people with a bigger name. Some Buck fans come to it wholly as a part of wanting to buy American. Some undoubtedly warm to the religious messaging that Buck includes with each new knife they sell - some evangelical American folks undoubtedly wish to buy knives from an evangelical American firm, based on the things they say about their brand identification with Buck. Not really my thing. But their steel is very good as a general rule and that is what garners my respect.

reswrightBuck includes religious messages with their knives? I don't have any Buck knives, curious to know how the messaging is made? Like verses on the package?

reswrightPicture a Buck-Cold Steel collab where Cold Steel shoots the video and Buck provides all the narration copy: the heroic protagonist kills the two dozen terrorist ninjas attacking him while the video's narrator says things like 'in a crisis, turn the problem over to the Holy Spirit'. I think that'd go viral :)
