Introducing the Kirby Lambert Raine

Hey everyone, This one has been in the works for awhile and we’re glad to finally share it with you. Like many other collaborations, this project has evolved over a number of meetings at custom knife shows. There are about a dozen major events around the country every year, and lots of smaller events - which are really fun places to see amazing handmade knives and meet the makers who created them, even if you’re not planning to spend $1000+ to take one home. It all started in April 2018 at an art knife show in Solvang, CA that was put on by Nordic Knives. We found out at the BBQ afterwards that the Nordic Knives shop was moving to Boise, ID and would take at least a year off, so if was the end of an era but also the beginning of something new. We hung out a bit and discussed a project generally, but didn’t know exactly what or when it would work for everyone. We planned to work out details at Blade Show in June, but Blade Show is always a whirlwind and we don’t have time to get it all ironed out. A month later in Portland, OR we’re both in Portland for the first ever Northwest Handbuilt Invitational, which is a very small show and we had time to talk a bit. I find out it’s Kirby’s birthday and buy him a drink...now things are moving, and I realize I really should have done that sooner. ;) When we met again at The (USN) Gathering in Las Vegas that September of 2018, we started looking at some general shapes and sizes, but hadn’t settled on a model and we both had a lot on our plates at the time. Fast forward to January 2019, and we’re back in Vegas for the Tactical Knife Invitational. Kirby’s knives are sold out quickly, as usual, and we talk about shapes, sizes and specific models. Kirby is a master of the recurve blade, which is a profile that we’ve never featured on any other models. Recurve blades have concave edges that trap material, so they are great for cutting any loose / hanging material - think of a scythe, that thing people use to harvest grains by hand (also what the Grim Reaper carries). Once we had the Raine model selected, we got into the construction, and landed on the faux bolsters with a corner cut that is possible with CNC, but not something Kirby typically does with the tools in his shop. The last piece of the puzzle fell into place when we found FatCarbon to use for the scales. Their contoured shape really brings out the layers of this new material, which is incredibly durable in addition to being visually stunning. They’re all gorgeous, but as a big fan of R&B, I have to say that I am partial to the Purple Raine. Which one do you like best? Let us know in the comments. Carry On — Jonas Heineman Collaborations Team, Blades

Ordered one. Lost in transit. Apparently not making any more so just refunded my money. Something is fishy here.

I'd buy one, the Carbon bolster and gray handle is immaculate.

I think there all cool looking but the blue one speaks to me most. Great looking knife for sure. I just bought a Reate Crossroads and if the Rain has even close to the quality of build the Crossroads does (and you know they will) there going to me amazing. 😎
