JDS Labs Atom and IPhone? Can it work?

more_vert
Team! How’s it going? Looking to improve my setup at work. Grabbed a pair of the TIN P1s and really enjoy them but I’ve noticed the difference at home on the JOT or Monoprice 788 Desktop Amp. They open up so much more when not using a portable app. On top of that, the connection between my Nano BL is so sporadic. It works once every 3 or 4 days. I was wondering has anyone had any luck with a JDS Labs Atom and an iPhone as a source? If so what cables were used for connection?

All you would need to connect it is a 3.5mm male "mini-plug/mini-stereo/TRS" to RCA cable. Something like this would do the trick: https://www.amazon.com/AmazonBasics-3-5mm-2-Male-Adapter-Cable/dp/B01D5H8KO2/ref=sr_1_1_sspa?crid=3M1TLH51TH57O&keywords=3.5mm+to+rca&qid=1563465608&s=gateway&sprefix=3.5mm+to+%2Caps%2C148&sr=8-1-spons&psc=1 I've used my V20 and KANN Cube as a source with my amps. I've not tried my iPhone but that is primarily a work device. The issue with using an amplified output as a source has to do with overdriving the input on your amp. Start out with the iPhone at max volume and reduce it if you hear distortion when turning up the amp.

Thank you for the response. So I hadn’t heard of the Kann Cube until you mentioned it. I saw that it had WiFi capability which is huge and that it accepts tidal. I guess my only challenge is that I don’t have much music physically anymore to transfer over to a digital player. I’ve fully given into streaming because of the convenience 🤦🏿‍♂️. However I’d love to get the highest fidelity possible and the Kann Cube looks amazing. Have you found a work around for streaming when you don’t have WiFi. I have unlimited data for my phone but the hotspot is definitely limited and I’d run through that in exactly 2 days. Lol You’ve really peaked my interest with the Cube though!
Kad998I can use my phone as a hotspot, it accepts sideloaded versions of certain apps (most popular music services) so you can download the tracks for offline playback. That is what I do for most of my non-wifi "streaming". Sorry missed your reply, hit me up if you have other questions on the KANN Cube. I'm in love with this thing, I can even push Tidal to the Xbox One with their DLNA app (AK Connect).
