There Are Pandas, and Then There Are Pandas.
And this isn't either of them! The Pandas we're talking about here, are watches, not bears. And what got me thinking about them (again) was a link posted this morning by @cm.rook who pointed a few of us to the very attractive (and not terribly priced) Yema "Rallygraph" Panda which, in it's most traditional arrangement, looks like the one on the left, but can also be had in the version on the right: The model on the left is a true Panda, while the model on the right is called a reverse Panda. The reason for that distinction is clear--Panda bears, only come in the first arrangement. Now at this point, everyone should be thinking about the most well-know Panda, The Rolex Panda, which is actually a Daytona, and among Rolex Daytonas, the most famous of which is the Paul Newman Daytona, which was famous first, because it was Paul's, and second because it sold at auction for $17.8 million (US Dollars). Ingredients (amounts are approximate, adjust accordingly) Pizza Dough (store bought or make yourself) 1 yellow onion 1/2 cup goat cheese 1/4 cup pine nuts 1 pear (sub apple, pear-apple) olive oil balsamic vinegar 2 tablespoons balsamic glaze if you have it
Instructions Pre-heat oven with a pizza stone (if you have one) to as high as it will go. At least 475.
Slice onion into medium strips. Saute with some olive oil until soft and slightly brown. Lower heat and and balsamic vinegar to taste.Usually about a 1/4 cup. Turn off heat and set aside. Slice the thinnest slices of the pear as you can. Roll out dough to size of pizza stone or pan that you are using. Most dough recipes make enough dough for 2 pizzas. Drizzly a bit of olive oil and balsamic glaze or vinegar on dough and spread. This will be the "base". Lay thin pear slices on dough. Break up goat cheese and sprinkle on dough. Add pine nuts.
Bake in oven for ~10min, but watch it! If you do not have a pizza stone I recommend baking the dough WITHOUT any toppings for about 3-5 min. Then remove, add toppings and place back in the oven to finish off. After ~10 min/ crust is golden, remove from oven. Add sauted onions, cut and enjoy!
