Dill Picked Cucumbers
search
I work as a cook at a restaurant and I have a garden. Pickling has become an essential tool for preserving food that would otherwise go bad. Most of the pickles I make are quick pickles. Just prep your vegetable, bring a brine to a boil, and pour it over...and you have pickles.
Ingredients: Pickling Cucumbers about 2 pounds 1 ½ Cups White Vinegar ½ Cup Water 1 Tablespoon Yellow Mustard Seeds 1 Tablespoon Dill Seeds 1 Tablespoon Black Peppercorns 4 Cloves Garlic ¼ Cup Salt 1 Teaspoon Turmeric Lots of Fresh Dill
Directions: Thinly slice cucumbers (about 1/8 inch). Bring water vinegar, salt, sugar, and turmeric to a boil. Combine spices, herbs, and cucumbers in a jar. Pour boiling liquid over cucumbers. Let it cool, cover, and place in the refrigerator.
Uses: Put on hamburgers or other sandwiches. Great for snacking, with cheese. Chop them up and mix them into a relish. Great in salads. Even bread and deep fry them for a bar favorite.
