There Are Pandas, and Then There Are Pandas.
And this isn't either of them! The Pandas we're talking about here, are watches, not bears. And what got me thinking about them (again) was a link posted this morning by @cm.rook who pointed a few of us to the very attractive (and not terribly priced) Yema "Rallygraph" Panda which, in it's most traditional arrangement, looks like the one on the left, but can also be had in the version on the right: The model on the left is a true Panda, while the model on the right is called a reverse Panda. The reason for that distinction is clear--Panda bears, only come in the first arrangement. Now at this point, everyone should be thinking about the most well-know Panda, The Rolex Panda, which is actually a Daytona, and among Rolex Daytonas, the most famous of which is the Paul Newman Daytona, which was famous first, because it was Paul's, and second because it sold at auction for $17.8 million (US Dollars). Ingredients:
2lb ground beef 1 large Sweet Onion, chopped 1 medium Green Pepper, chopped 1 medium Red Pepper, chopped 1 medium Yellow Pepper, chopped 1 medium Jalapeno Pepper, chopped 2-3 medium Tomatoes, chopped 1 can beer 3 Tbsp Chili Powder 2 Tbsp Ground Cumin 2 tsp Oregano 1 tsp Ground Coriander 1 tsp Tobasco Sauce 1 can Tomato Sauce 1 sm can Tomato Paste 1 can Kidney Beans 1 can Red or Black Beans 1 can Pinto Beans 1/2 tsp Salt 1/2 tsp Black Pepper 1/4 tsp Cayenne Pepper
Directions:
Start browning the beef in a large stock pot/soup pot. Once the beef is about half-way cooked (still slightly pink) add the onions and chopped sweet peppers. Continue to cook and saute until the onions turn opaque and the sweet peppers are tender. Add the tomato sauce, beans (DO NOT DRAIN), and beer. Stir well. Add the tomatoes and dry spices. Stir well. Add the jalapeno, tomato paste, and Tobasco sauce. Stir well. Bring to a boil, stirring occasionally. Once boiling, reduce heat and simmer for 2-3 hours. Serve hot with fresh corn bread and your favorite chili fixin's such as sour cream or shredded cheese.
This will result in a fairly mild chili with just a little kick. For a spicier chili add additional jalapeno peppers or your favorite hot peppers such as Serrano or ghost chili peppers.
