Long Story made short about this chronograph movement. The Chinese govt. was looking for a chronograph watch for their pilots around 1960. The Venus company in Switzerland had decided to quit making their chronograph with manual wind watch that used the Venus 175 movement and were looking for for a buyer for all their specialized machines to make this movement. Apparently it was a match made in heaven. The Chinese bought all the Venus Swiss machinery and also brought in the Swiss experts to show the Chinese how to make the watch movements. They finally came out with the Seagull 1963 watch used by pilots in the Chinese Air Force. This was the start. We now see more and more companies using this movement. So it may be a Chinese movement but it was/is made using all Swiss machinery. By the way. I'd like to buy all the Swiss machinery that made the Lemania 5100 chronograph movement and move to the USA and revive the watch industry here!
