I need to get myself a desktop speaker setup(and the knowledge to set one up)

more_vert
I have been a mostly headphone guy and want to experience some nice speakers that wont break the bank. I know nothing about speakers. Does the amp matter? Can I use my current Dac/Amp combo (FX Audio DAC-X6 ), I was thinking about upgrading that as well.

Vanatoo is pretty solid choice for ease of use. You could also try the emotiva A-100 and a pair of dayton bookshelves. You could use your existing gear as the DAC and the A-100 has it's own volume control. Here are the daytons I was referring to: https://www.parts-express.com/dayton-audio-b652-air-6-1-2-2-way-bookshelf-speaker-with-amt-tweeter-pair--300-651?utm_source=google&utm_medium=cpc&utm_campaign=pla&gclid=CjwKCAjwnMTqBRAzEiwAEF3nduYUeleZsjVGlz_rvEsHzhz1a9VavFLqdnYJrAOstVhLEo544my1_BoC2KoQAvD_BwE The benefit of NOT going active is you can reuse the various pieces of your "starter" set in other applications down the road.

If you're looking for solely a desktop pair of speakers, I would suggest the vanatoo t0. I have a pair and they're an amazing pair at $350 with all the features, convenience and most of all sound quality that they offer. Zeos and Valour also speak highly of these speakers so check them out.

Senpai-samaWhat do you use as an amp and dac?

SCIFIcrabThey are active speakers so they have their own internal dac and amp which is nice for a desktop set up as it reduces clutter.
