Daniel San; you wax on, you wax off!

The other day I came across a small jar of Renaissance Micro-Crsytalline Wax Polish left over from my Pen collecting days. What the stuff does to pens is down-right amazing so I decided to try some on a few of my watches (crystals and bracelets). First try was on my Seiko Flightmaster which has a slightly domed Hardlex crystal. The results were incredible--the depth of shine, the reflection of highlights--made the crystal look like the business end of a Tokina AT-X 16-28mm f/2.8 Pro FX Lens. A Selvyt polishing cloth works perfectly to buff out a thin coat of wax and kick the shine up to level 11. That one looked so go good I begin slathering the stuff on several other watches--on the crystals, on the bezels, and on the bracelets--everyone of them shined up like nobody's business--better than they looked out of the package. Man, I was impressed! The other thing is that after you buff the stuff off, you can feel the difference it makes--like gliding your fingers across the hood of a freshly waxed car. Best part, that coating prevents finger prints! According to the manufacturer, Renaissance wax was developed for use in the British Museum to protect everything from jewelry to paintings to firearms. The idea is that it cleans, polishes and protects the surfaces you use it on. You can read about the stuff and its uses here: https://restorationproduct.com/about/ and you can buy a jar from Amazon here: https://www.amazon.com/s?k=Renaissance+Wax+Polish+65ml&ref=nb_sb_noss It's not cheap, but a 65ml jar should last you a life-time.

Funny, pens and watches go together... My dad was a huge pen collector and I got some of his nicer ones when he passed away a couple of years ago (as did my 4 brothers and 2 sisters... he had A LOT). He also liked watches, though he wore a Timex Indiglo for the last 15 years of his 94 year life. I'll have to get some of that wax for the pens and my watches. Thanks for the suggestion, Ray. Cheers!

He wasn't much of a story teller, unfortunately. Only in his later years did he share some of his WWII experiences, and that wasn't much. I do have an 18K gold Universal Geneve Tri-Compax that he bought at the PX in Germany in 1946 for $50-75. It's worth almost $5000 today. :-) I also have a Luger that he took off a German officer as they swept thru Germany (71st Infantry Division) near the end. I remember walking into Bass Pro wondering where I was going to find ammo for it... what an idiot. 9mm rounds are still called "9mm Luger". Glad I browsed around a bit before I asked anyone. LOLOLOL
