Top 5 Decks Post-Rotation for Standard

Whether you have been spending money on Standard cards or redeeming your precious Arena wildcards, the last few months before a rotation are always excruciating. Is it worth it for just a few weeks? What is going to happen to my deck when we lose Ixalan, Rivals of Ixalan, Dominaria and Core Set 2019?
search
(https://whatsinstandard.com) Well, let’s dive into the Top 5 decks that are the most likely to survive rotation. Keep in mind that yes, we lose Ixalan and Dominaria check lands, but we have Temples! Bant Ramp

search
Ever since the printing of Nissa, Who Shakes the World, Blue/Green ramp strategies have been amongst the best decks. It certainly loses Llanowar Elves, which is arguably the best card in the deck, but the shell of the deck is still mostly intact. Will there be a replacement for the powerful one drop in Throne of Eldraine or will the metagame slow down a bit and let you skip on one drops? If that’s the case, a set of Incubation Druid might do the trick. You can’t replace Glacial Fortress because we don’t have allied Temples, but Evolving Wilds is a thing! In a pinch it gets you Forest for Nissa which a Blue/White dual can’t do. Esper Hero

search
Ok, Esper loses Teferi, Hero of Dominaria, but is it really that big of a deal in this deck full of amazing cards? I understand it likely kills Blue/White based control decks, but in this midrange deck, it really isn't as necessary. Narset is a card you can play in that slot for example and I’m sure the deck is not that much worse if you do that. What about Seraph of the Scales? Let’s hope for a great multicolored five drop in the next set, but honestly if that’s all it takes, I have great hopes for Esper Hero in the next metagame. Losing the check lands is a big deal, we have Temple of Silence to replace Isolated Chapel, but no ally check lands for Glacial Fortress and Drowned Catacomb. However, I would be extremely skeptical that Throne of Eldraine does not have ally lands in it. We’re used to great manabases now, don’t let us down Wizards! Jeskai Planeswakers

search
Ok, losing Opt makes Saheeli worse, but Karn and Teferi, Hero of Dominaria are nowhere near irreplaceable. Sky Tether is a card I always considered playing in these Planeswalker decks, with Lightning Strike going away, this might be a nice cheap substitute. Sarkhan the Masterless remains the centerpiece and with cheap planeswalkers like Narset and Teferi, Time Raveler still being around, I’d guess some kind of superfriends deck will still be highly viable. Thanks for War of the Spark of course. Let’s not forget Planeswalkers are in every set, Throne of Eldraine might have something in store for this. Naya Feather

search
Reckless Rage is very unlikely to find a replacement considering how unique the card is. Yet, the rest of the deck is untouched. Maybe all you need to do is play more Domri’s Ambush and a few shocks to make up for the loss of Reckless Rage? The powerful core of this deck will still be out there, it’s not impossible some one mana card printed in another color makes the Feather archetype go to Jeskai or Mardu! Mono Red
search
Regular Mono Red loses a lot of cards, Ghitu Lavarunner, Wizard’s Lightning, Viashino Pyromancer, Goblin Chainwhirler and Lightning Strike. But this version of Mono Red that has been making noises recently does not lose as many cards. Goblin Banneret, Spear Spewer, Skewer the Critics, and even Electrostatic Field are all currently legal and have seen some amount of play over the past year, I would not be surprised if they became the successors. Also, let’s be honest, has there ever been a Standard without Mono Red being a deck week 1? I’m confident Throne of Eldraine will have the necessary cards to replace those that are gone, it’s just always how it is. Enjoy these last few weeks of the current Standard because let’s be honest, it has been an amazing format!

So... Is Massdrop out of the TCG game now? Literally nothing there and even the category is no longer on my favorites list.

WockaWell that pretty much kills 99% of my interest. Seems odd as they tended to sell through stuff pretty quickly. I'm sure there are exceptions, but that's the way it is with any business unless you have a crystal ball.
