So, uh....the Writing Community is back?

more_vert
Under the COMMUNITIES menu, Writing is back under My Communities. But it's not showing up under the SHOP menu for me. And it only has one fountain pen for purchasing so far. Is this an error, or is it permanently back?

Well that is disappointing, a large percentage of my 150+ drops have been from the writing community. I for one won't be visiting the site much anymore because I was mainly interested in the writing community, which is too bad because often times I would see a drop from a different community here and there that I would join during those visits.

Seems to me like Massdrop was either bought out by someone or they took a lot of PE funding. They rebranded to "Drop", expanded to Europe and now they've "dropped" a lot of products and communities, including ours. 🤔 Well at least I know I'll be buying my stuff from Cult Pens and Endless Pens now.

I've been away from the internet for a couple of months. I've come back to find almost nothing for sale In the Writing Community. Have you stopped selling fountain pens? If so, I'll have to leave.

Please remove me from your mailing list and stop sending me emails. This is because you have "sunset" -- a truly nauseating euphemism -- the writing community. I'm not interested enough in knives and watches to continue with Drop.

As there's no guarantee that your Writing Forum will ever continue to exist, there's no point in using it to help future visitors navigate the wonderful world of Fountain Pens. I'll frequent both Reddit and FountainPenNetwork instead. I'm gone...

Some of us had the idea that maybe Endless Pens might want to host our Writing community, so we reached out to them, and although there is no forum in place, Hop Drop is specifically created for us. https://endlesspens.com/collections/hop-drop You will need to create an account to see what's on offer, there will be an additional 15% off using code: HOPDROP15 This offer will be valid for a week, and there will be new deals with new discount codes every week. Visit this link for the latest on this development: https://drop.com/talk/21301/current-deals-elsewhere Spread the word. Pass it on.

So your my primary interface for pens, having someone curate what is out there and present that to the world is how many of us know and learn about these products. Maybe you could have a standard list of products and you keep selling those products till you find better ones? Most of us know that we can find these products other places, but that is just the thing, we don't even know what to look for. You do a great job of photographing the products, and explaining them. Why should the product go away, just keep selling the drops. Maybe your not cheeper, maybe you are, try to find some value added way to be different like bundles (notebook/pen/ink set).

Not selling pens? I’m out of here. One more junk email I can get rid of.

Completely surprised by the lack of blade diversity here on Drop...
I’ve been a collector of Blades since before my teens, and a retailer coming up on 15… or maybe 20 years. Drop has really been kind of an interesting experience for me, because I do occasionally get to see some unusual tech and sometimes EDC items that otherwise I might not have been aware of. And maybe it’s because I have a deep love of cutlery and bladed weapons, but I find myself trolling through the site looking at it what’s available; and it’s just it’s pretty much the same. And the bladed community here is just always confused me.. every single knife is about the same, they’re almost all drop points and although the handle materials change and brands change.. it’s really just the same knife over and over and over again... occasionally you’ll see a tanto or a slight variant; but rarely… and almost never a serrated blade. And I’m just deeply amazed at this diversion of serrated blades. And I’m just surprised there isn’t more of a request for diversity here.... and I...

Can we get Sony E-Mount or other mirrorless camera options please..
Would be nice to see some Sony E mount full frame cameras on here. I currently shoot with a A99 and they killed the lense path for better or more option lenses and now is all E-Mount. 🤔

There Are Pandas, and Then There Are Pandas.
And this isn't either of them! The Pandas we're talking about here, are watches, not bears. And what got me thinking about them (again) was a link posted this morning by @cm.rook who pointed a few of us to the very attractive (and not terribly priced) Yema "Rallygraph" Panda which, in it's most traditional arrangement, looks like the one on the left, but can also be had in the version on the right: The model on the left is a true Panda, while the model on the right is called a reverse Panda. The reason for that distinction is clear--Panda bears, only come in the first arrangement. Now at this point, everyone should be thinking about the most well-know Panda, The Rolex Panda, which is actually a Daytona, and among Rolex Daytonas, the most famous of which is the Paul Newman Daytona, which was famous first, because it was Paul's, and second because it sold at auction for $17.8 million (US Dollars). The story of that auction is well-known so I'll only...
