Request: CAMPFIRE AUDIO - ANDROMEDA SPECIAL EDITION: GOLD

more_vert
I don't know if this is the right place to make a request but here it goes. This is a limited edition version of the Campfire Audio Andromeda IEM which adds two balanced drivers to deliver even more punch to the low end. I'm looking for a great set of IEMs to listen to and some reviews of the Andromeda have put the SHURE 846 to some kind of shame (which I have had my eyes on for a little while). These are currently sold out at $1299. Who knows if more will be produced, so I ask if we can get some motion on this request. Anyone interested? If you haven't made a decision yet, I just received mine and I wouldn't call these bass heavy at all. I'm not even a bass head and often find myself bumping the eq up a little to give a little more thump.

jiggastafarianSurprised, when I listened to the normal Andromedas I felt the bass was almost sufficient, didn't blow me away but it's presence was noticed.

jiggastafarianI agree they aren't bass heavy (say, compared to the Atlas). But it's a nice increase over the bass of the standard/normal Andromeda.

Not gonna happen, the Andromedas or Solaris never got a drop and the Andromeda Gold are limited to 1000 pairs. If they did a drop then the exclusivity of them is gone.

TrifterThen they should just so another color, or bring back the white ones and put a drop x ca logo on it as another limited edition. These iems sound great would love to get them under or at 1k.

Hmmm...that's always a hard question to answer. =) If you don't have the original Andromeda and are tight on money, it's a strong option. You can often get B-stock for around $875. The original has a bit more crispness on the highs to my ears than the SE, but the bass, while present and accurate, is weaker than I prefer. But if you would rather have the extra bass, the SE is the way to go. I also have the CA Atlas, which is a single 10mm DD, and I actually like the BA bass of the Andro SE better than that of the Atlas. The Atlas is nice for in-your-face thumping but not as clean-sounding as the Andro SE. If I could have only one Andro, I'd personally go for the SE. Hope that helps. Check out the posts in the Head-Fi thread on the Andromedas since about 08/31/19 for some more owner perspective... https://www.head-fi.org/threads/campfire-audio-introducing-2-new-models-hello-andromeda-and-nova.805107/ Good luck with the decision!

journeyman63 I listen to lots of bass heavy, detailed low end music. Think Trentemøller - Chameleon, James Holden, etc.. The good news is that if I don't absolutely love the Andro SE I can return them. Thanks so much for the insight, it's well appreciatred!

I don't think they are sold out yet...they are listed as in stock on CA's website: https://campfireaudio.com/shop/andromeda-special-edition-gold/ I have a pair of these and the standard Andromedas. Both are great, but the SE has a nice bump in the amount of bass, which I enjoy.

journeyman63Yeah I just realized they are still in stock (who knows for how long though, there's only 1000). I don't know how I feel about spending $1300 on IEMs right now, do you think it's worth it? My pockets aren't as deep as they used to be and I just bought the sony sennheiser bundle :)
