I thought I'd begin a new thread focused on interesting horology and time piece related works of writing. With many active folks here on the forums it may be a resource to learn about some new sites or writers that you will enjoy. I've seen Stainless and some others sharing items related to specific posts and subject matters, but thought that this thread could be a good place to drop articles not related to any one specific conversation but still interesting and worth sharing.
For those who haven't seen it I would recommend the current four part series Hodinkee is doing on the evolution of the watch industry from the advent of quartz technology to today. I've really been enjoying it so far and the second installment was published yesterday.

Jack Forster @ Hodinkee actually provides one of the best, succinct histories of the Goodwood Festival of Speed here that I've ever read. And then there is watch stuff, too :)

Here is an article detailing a problem that I'd wager most people didn't realize was even a problem; how to deliver constant force (and therefore, accurate timekeeping) from the barrel through the geartrain: https://monochrome-watches.com/technical-perspective-dilemma-constant-force-watchmaking/
I think this just further highlights how much thought goes into the making of a watch. Once the issue is recognized, it becomes pretty obvious; that is, as a spring becomes unwound, the force it delivers become less and less. This article goes over some of the advancements and different approaches taken to mitigate this occurrence.
Vincent.HI was not, in fact, aware that it was a problem and now have a new obsession with fusée and chain mechanisms. To see a 15th century innovation sized down and put in a smaller watch is pretty awesome.

Some cool history regarding the "last hurrah" of the Hamilton brand when it was still under American ownership.
Attending The 24 Hours of Le Mans is a bucket list item for me, but the 24 Hours of Daytona is way way closer. May have to make the trip in the next couple of years.
Pros - proximity, seating, well lit course at all hours, less expense, warm(er) weather in January Cons - proximity, inferior cheese and wine

A nice perspective regarding why the most successful watch brand in the world typically isn't considered in the same tier as Patek, Vacheron, and Audemars (one could argue Lange has broken into this tier): https://www.hodinkee.com/articles/why-isnt-rolex-considered-one-of-the-big-three
Vincent.HI read that Rolex piece in their year end round up, good stuff. I'll save these others for lunch time tomorrow!
