Mechanical Keyboard with Apple Layout?

more_vert
search
I've been on the lookout for a mechanical Keyboard some time. Unfortunately I've never found something which comes close to the Layout of an Apple Keyboard which I'm now quite comfortable with. Most importantly: four keys on the bottom left to the space bar, and a large return key. Is there something like this on the Market? Perhaps even with a compact layout and USB-C?

I have actually owned and used not one but two Matias keyboards, full size, clicky, and I can tell you that they're awesome. Awesome and expensive. And they don't hold up well to constant use. The Matias was my daily driver, and about two years in the keys began to not register. I called the company and they said that it happens. Of course the board was out of warranty. I dug deep for the money and bought another one. I don't think it held up quite as long. I had to call it done. I saved the keycaps, though. If the board isn't going to be put through its paces 8 or 10 hours a day, 5 days a week, it will last a good few years.

I dunno if you ever resolved this, but I found a Matias keyboard (in this thread) that has the 4 key layout: https://matias.store/products/60-keyboard

AngelspireOP is specifically asking a same layout in the sense all the keys, alignment/position identical to magic keyboard. NONE of the production, even most of the popular GB keyboards during past few years I am aware of checks all the marks, except apple keyboard itself of course. The position of the Command key is particular uncommon and important as it needs to be aligned vertically with the right edge of 'x' key. Many prefer this position so they don't have to curl their thumb when copy/paste, more comfortable than what would have been done if using a traditional PC keyboard.

P1MPBOT5000That's funny, I only have three keys to the left of my space bar and a long, thin Enter key. It's almost like you didn't pay attention to what OP was saying because you were in a hurry to be snarky.

My daughter has a MacBook, so I have a bit of interest in this subject, though no real need for these keyboards myself. I looked about a bit and found a discussion that mentions the Epomaker GK68XS which "lets you switch the spacebar module from one key to three keys, letting you reprogram the different keys to FN or Shift"... https://www.gomechanicalkeyboard.com/lists/best-mechanical-keyboard-for-mac/ I'm not sure if I'm interpreting this correctly, but it seems to me that swapping the spacebar for spacebar plus two more keys might give you the four keys you want.

"Most importantly: four keys on the bottom left to the space bar, and a large return key." There, I repeated it for you so hopefully more people will pay attention. Personally I rarely ever use the Fn key, so I'm more than happy to lose one of it.

Matias has been making ALPS key switch mechanical keyboards for Macs for like 20 years or so. They have a new model coming next summer but their Tactile Pro (white clicky) and Quiet Pro (tactile and less clicky) are great keyboards and can still be got in ANSI, JIS and UK and German ISO layouts. I have both ANSI clicky and tactile. They’re great.

Keychron K2. Has function row keys, Mac-specific keycaps, Bluetooth (also USB-C), and works with three devices. Best stock keyboard I've used. If I had my choice, I'd buy the hotswap version and replace the stock Gaterons.

OP was asking for a keyboard that has Fn, Ctrl, Opt, and Cmd all on the bottom left of the keyboard. At least for the options available to me on the Keychron website, this is not an option. Fn is on the other side of Space.

scholtnono, he is just saying that the keyboard will soon come out in a mac version, so when it does, it would be perfect for a mac
