Where did the categories go?

more_vert
A while ago, there used to be tons more options for categories/communities and I personally feel like that was really beneficial to lots of us. I'm wondering why there was a change to a more simplified and, at least in my opinion, trickier to navigate for more specific items. When we had multiple categories and communities it was a lot easier to see things related to specific areas and it helped people see products that were appealing to them. It now feels over-condensed and I believe that this has caused a decline in appeal to categories such as the writing community which now rarely get any products being "dropped" with the minimal ways to access or view specific products. There used to be 4-5 writing drops going at any one time and with the change that has trickled down to 0-2, at least in my experience. I feel the same has occurred in the photography, DIY tech, and PC related areas (excluding mechanical keyboards) as the electronics section is now strongly dominated purely by audio with the occasional mech keys drop.
