Can I use membrane switches on the alt mechanical keyboard?

more_vert
Thinking about buying the alt mechanical keyboard (Halo True) but I'm not a huge fan of mechanical key switches and prefer membrane. are there membrane switches that would work or are they incompatible?

erickongTopres are kind of similar to membrane, you might want to look into topres even though they're super expensive

erickongTopre are not membrane. They are rubber dome and slider over PCB with capacitive actuation. They feel absolutely amazing to many keyboard aficionados, but not to everyone. Try before you buy.

No, you cannot. If it's the travel distance that's throwing you off you can try low profile switches like kailh chocs.
VenarosToo bad the lead positions of the choc switches don't work with an MX PCB

Membrane have their tactility from a plastic membrane that’s placed over the pcb and springs so they’re not compatible. If you’re not a fan of mechanical keyboards because of the feel you should experiment with cheap switches on that ALT such as some from Kailh or Gateron. You may be swayedore quickly than you think

JuiceTin255Most membrane keyboards have their tactility generated by rubber domes that sit over the membrane. Most membrane keyboards don't have springs and PCBs eithers.
