Is it possible to reduce or adjust the clamping force of these headphones?

Use wire hangers. Bend the wire hanger to slightly wider than the width of your head and secure it to your headphones with a thin wire. If it's loose, make the wire hanger narrower. If it hurts, spread the wire hanger out more.

They quickly adjust to the size and shape of your head

As others said it gets better over time. They were uncomfortable for me at first. Another thing that can help is changing the ear pads. I got the Dekoni hybrids which are plusher than what they come with.

The 6xx have a tight clamp when new, it will take a few months before it starts to loosen up. Like what someone else said is you can have them on a headphone stand to give them tiny stretch when not in use.

Store them clamped over a shoebox that is wider than your head for a few days.

I found it pretty comfortable but did the thing of putting them on something wider than my head just to make it a little looser.

DrMEBThis easy fix works for many different models. I have headphones that I was about to return due to the pain in the jaw from the clamping pressure. This ten second (free) mod, done with care can solve the issue.

Yes, by placing them over something a little wider than your head, like several books, you can ease the tension as these come tight from the factory.

No. The clamp is fairly light to begin with, though. Edit: you can break them in by stretching them out artificially, but that's a permanent solution if you should change your mind later. Better to just wear them and let it form to your head naturally.

Not sure what you mean. The pads will rest on your earlobes but they are of a soft cloth material.

thomsonSMGHe means his upper jaw. Many people suffer from chronic jaw pain, which is probably exacerbated by tight headphones like the hd6xx
