Unitasker tools: Love them? Hate them? Despise them like Alton:

I personally actually can't live without a few specific unitaskers.. the main one is cherry pitter (I hate olives, so it really is a unitasker).

bradrI don't mind some unitaskers. I understand space constraints may be a limiting factor, or just the infrequency of use may not justify the money spent, but some of them do make certain tasks quicker. A lot comes down to preference.

jkiemeleI have to agree, unitaskers are all about whether you have the space and the need. I made brandied cherries this year and I'm not even sure how I could have done it without a cherry pitter. I also have a big citrus press, but if I need to juice a bunch of lemons or limes, not regretting the other 90% of the time it just takes up space. I'm sure many other people are like me, I have a bunch of big multi-taskers: stand mixer, blender, and food processor, some of which have feature overlap, but again certain things they are best at.
The one multi tasker that I need though is an insta-pot, then I can ditch my slow cooker and rice cooker.

bradrI like to say that if ALL of your unitasker's can fit in one drawer, then its fine. Being proficient with the tools that can do a specific task well though is important, you don't need an egg slicer if you're at all decent with a knife for instance. If you're unable or unwilling to get good at the task with a multitasking thing such as a chef's knife, then sure, fit it in.

bradrHate em, but BBQ claws are not a unitasker. Useful for lifting roasts and such, as well as tossing salads.
