I'm new here.. And I'm loving my Sennheiser HD6XX + Cavalli Liquid Carbon X + Grace SDAC Balanced + iPad Pro + ChromeCast Audio + Denon iPod Dock + Modified iPod 5.5G 256SSD. The thing is... I would love to use a box that can switch between multiple inputs / outputs. Something close to the MASSDROP X AIRIST AUDIO R-2R DAC but with an input selection of at least 2 Optical Toslink, 1 Coaxial, 2 RCA and maybe XLR Balanced? And two or more outputs: RCA and XLR Balanced to stack to a THX AAA or Cavali Liquid Carbon X with the same Drop case to stack them up...
What you guys think?
Also on the same note... Drop Slot loading CD Player SACD capable with Balanced, RCA and Optical outputs?
Hey Humfern, thanks for posting this and starting a conversation around your product idea. As stated by others, the appeal for this would be pretty limited for our audience, and you should be able to find some products in the pro space that do what you need.
Appreciate you making the post and hope to see more ideas from you in discussions!
The potential market for this would be tiny (especially if we're talking XLR) so the probability of Drop getting involved would be minuscule. This is more pro audio gear... maybe have a look around on Sweetwater.
What happens to incoming toslink? If that's supposed to get converted into an RCA out, I'm not sure this is a simple switcher anymore.
Edit: Ah, I see someone else already brought this up. Anyways... and odd bit of gear.
Anyway, my previous comment about "pro audio" was more that this is the kind of thing that is much more commonly required in the pro audio world, if you want it, there's going to be something that addresses this already.
Are you referring to an analog pre-amp with various inputs and multiple outputs? Or like an integrated DAC functionality (See Cambridge Audio and others)?
ElectronicVicesI guess the equipment will have to convert Toslink optical and Coaxial Digital signals to analog, therefore a DAC is needed. But not as a USB DAC. Just an input selector (Analog/Toslink) with analog output routes to RCA and Balanced XLR.
I'm still curious about that amp even though I have the THX789. I have the SDAC-B paired with the 789 right now and also have the 6XX and 58X and Focal Elex.
