Extension Cable Help

more_vert
Hi. I just joined Drop and purchased the Sennheiser 6XX. I will be using it in my home connected to my Denon receiver. I need to add length to the included cable. Are there any specific requirements or features that I should look for in an extension cable? Any recommendations?

Pangea makes an inexpensive cable. I looked at it and the Grado and picked this for the build quality. You can get it at Audio Advisor. Absolutely doesn't change the sound in any way that I can detect, including when moving the cable around. https://www.pangeaaudio.com/headphones/headphone-cables

cledryThank you cledry. I was unaware of this brand, so I will check it out.
SteveH2I don't own their extension cable but I have several Pangea cables (USB, RCA interconnects, one power cable) and can also attest to their quality. They did not have an extension available when I bought my Grado years ago. Based on their other cables my gut tells me the Grado will be a bit more flexible (not more versatile, physical characterstic).
Grado 15ft extension, well made, reasonable price... been using mine for years.

ElectronicVicesThank you ElectronicVices. I will do some research on that model.
SteveH2I bought it for the exact same purpose as yourself, well for an HD650 technically (same can longer cable and different color). The Sennheiser stock HD650 cable is like 3m so adding the Grado netted me roughly 8m/25ft

That's what I thought too, it's a cable for 30 Euro. But no, it's a cable that I have claimed sounded better, thus I am the enemy, and should not be allowed near power tools :)

Here be dragons. In the Audiophile community there are opposing factions. Some claim that better cable is better sound. Others claim that better cable is snake oil. So you will likely get very few responses because of the "pile on" effect. Don't pay more than $30 for it.

praxis22Thank you praxis22 for your help. My intention is not to start a battle. I just am not sure how to tell what will work with the Sennheisers. If there is an advantage in doing so, I would be willing to consider a longer replacement for the cable that came with the cans. Otherwise, I am just looking for an extension. I don't believe I have the necessary connections for a balanced cable and I am unwilling to spend anything close to the cost of the headphones for the cable.
