Kira60 V2 GMK Bento Gateron silent inks GMK screw in stabilizers - clipped and lubed Early this year, when I first started this hobby, it seemed super daunting because of all the different components. I had tons of questions but thankfully, had helpful friends to guide me throughout this process (and still do). For instance, why do you have to take apart the stabilizers to clip them? Why do you have to lube your stabilizers? Why can't you just use it the way you received it in its original form? So many questions!

Not going to lie, I thought it was a tedious task to clip and lube the stabilizers but its a must! Once you do, you can't go back! No more mushy keys or rattling sounds - instead, you get a smooth, full sound.

One of the first things I learned is to always make sure that the bottom row of your keyboard lines up with the layout you want while using keycaps to ensure there's space between them and your switches are in the correct place before soldering. Because what if you soldered in all your switches and come to find out when you put on your keycaps that it's wrong! You'd have to take it all apart and de-solder your switches to fix it.

Soldering is actually not hard at all! It's a relaxing part of the building process, minus the fumes. Pro tip - Make sure you get those Hershey kiss peaks though!

after owning the NightFox (cherry) and Pineapple (mda) keycap sets, i realized that i prefer keycaps with big surface areas (i.e. mda). i already knew from images that i would not like tall and typically very sculpted keycaps. therefore, i knew i had to try XDA to determine whether i prefer it to MDA. i just picked up Buger's TH01 (xda) and Plastic (mda) keycap sets, which both look amazing. so now im just waiting to find a be-all-end-all 65% board/case to replace my NightFox. i definitely want a heavier board again, although a black or clear 65% kara would be dope if it existed. if anybody has any suggestions, please share :)

What are your thoughts on that silver and red desoldering pump? I have one myself and struggle to remove any joints larger than what you'd use for a LED.

Yeah for sure! My friend has one of the desoldering vaccum pumps and it seems to clog a lot faster than these hand ones. Desoldering can be such a pain but it always seems like me or my coworkers have something new to rebuild :D

LevelSteamI prefer to use a desoldering braid instead. Solder suckers are OK, but they don't get everything and always leave a little behind.

How do you do per-key RGB lighting on a Shift V2?
I saw the online configurator that lets you do this on the Shift V1, where it spits out a compiled firmware file to flash. The V2 doesn't seem to have this function in the Windows configurator, though. I can't imagine the answer here is "you're going to have to manually write the hex for every key in QMK, compile it, and flash that".
