Hello, just wanting to see if I’m the only one really wanting a copper alox Swiss Army knife. They are hard to find and I am hoping for a new run of them in the cadet, lumberjack, or electrician versions.
Anyone else wanting the solid titanium Zippo to be remade?
From what I could find, the model 110 Solid Titanium Zippo was part of their "Pure" and "Precious Metals" line-up from 2001 to 2006, and at the time, retailed for around $100 (think the price of Ti has come down since then, though Chinese outer sleeve replicas still sell for around $120).
Would love to just buy an original from that period, but due to it now being a collectible, they rarely go up for sale, and even used ones seem to sell for at least a few hundred dollars. At the time they were available, I don't recall ever hearing about them.
Was just wondering if this is something others here were interested in, and if so, would it be something that Massdrop could maybe sway Zippo into remaking? I asked Zippo's customer relations if they could possibly suggest reintroducing it in the future (now that Ti has grown in popularity vs 17 years ago), but only got "at this time, we are not aware of this lighter being produced again." Personally think this would slot in nicely under...
Hey Massdrop community,
My name is Shan , with Tepe Designs. I wanted to test the water and see if the community would like to see my design offered via Massdrop. Therefore, I need your help so that the team here can make a sound decision on whether or not to consider this a viable offering. I am working on getting first production done now via Kickstarter, however, I would like to see the Hornet offered to a much larger following. The knife is being made by HE Knives in Guangdong province, (same place as Kizer, WE and Reate etc..). They have 20+ yrs experience and have worked on projects for other manufactures like Kershaw and Buck. Rest assured, they do excellent work and I wouldn't have spent the last 18 months preparing this with them for a poorly made product.
Ultimately, I like to offer up one or more versions of the Hornet as follows:
1. D2 steel / black or orange G-10 handles
2. N690 steel / full Ti handles
I leave it to you all, the Massdrop community, to decide if...

Had to settle for a folding knife because I couldn't bring my full Ka-Bar USMC fighting knife which my cadets gave me some years back 🤣 The Ka-Bar M98 folder is a beast of a knife. The M98 comes in at 5oz with an unimpressive 5Cr15MoV blade on nylon washers and full G-10 handles. Honestly, the I bought the M98 for purely for the knife's aesthetic--a homage to Ka-Bar's fighting knives. The knife is functional but heavy and the clip appears to be a generic, three-screw, shallow carry China-made knife clip. 5Cr15MoV is definitely nothing to write home about but is serviceable.
Fun fact, the 4th Marine Regiment fought in the defense of Corregidor in 1942.
Hello everyone! I'm the type of knife-enthusiast who spends way too much money collecting aftermarket scales for my favorite knives. I've got scales from 4 different makers for my ZT0640 alone. I always wonder why production knife companies have never tapped into the market of buying extra/different scales for existing models. Outside of TRM, Hinderer, and some CKF, I don't think anyone does it. For Drop-made knives in particular, ones that have G10/Wood/CF options, it would be really cool to be able to buy just the scales by themselves. It can be a lot of fun to customize/accessorize your favorite knives, and the posts here are full of people wishing they could swap configurations on models beyond the standard factory options. Perhaps, since Drop has a relationship with their manufacturers, they could look into the idea of allowing purchase of scales. Could even just use the units that get sent back for replacement to cannibalize for parts. Food for thought. I'd buy something like...
