I'll have a couple of vegetarians at my dinner. Can anyone recommend something to replace the turkey as a main dish? I'm not looking for Tofurkey or anything, just another dish I can cook from scratch that wouldn't be wildly out of place with the traditional staples (dressing, mashed potatoes, green bean casserole, cranberry sauce, etc). My current plan is grilled portobello mushrooms topped with caprese salad.

5thvoiceI think you're on the right track with the mushrooms, that was my suggestion. I don't know if I'd put a caprese salad on top since to me that sounds out of place.
I'd go grilled with garlic oil/garlic ghee, and maybe use a nice little bundle of fresh thyme or rosemary as a basting brush with your fat of choice. S& P to taste. This gives you a nice easy base flavor that'll pair well with traditional T'Giving sides.

5thvoiceWe make a vegetarian lasagne, can be made ahead easily and frozen. Actually, we make a large lasagne and use noodles as a separator so we make half vegetarian and half with meat for those who don't care for turkey.
