The Nichia LED has a higher CRI... meaning that I can use it as a small off-camera light to help the colors and 3D shape of an object “pop” a little more in photography. I also think that it makes it slightly easier to see the difference of different colors and hues, like if I drop something small in a patch of grass. Lastly, I like that it makes the lowest brightness setting a little lower and more gentle... better for using around the house without shocking the wife or annoying the cat.
Though for general walk-around use either one will light up a path, and some people won’t see much difference. The Cree light is a smidge brighter, but at max settings there’s not much of a difference.
