Seiko 5 SNZF 17 lifetime expectancy?

more_vert
Anybody knows what is expected lifetime for Seiko SNZF17 (Sea Urchin); i.e. if reasonably used under normal conditions every day as a beater watch how long it can be expected that it will last before servicing (before it starts significantly gaining or loosing seconds and minutes, etc.,etc.)? Does anybody have this watch for a longer period of time i.e. a couple of years; how does it behave as an aged watch?

What kind of crazy question is that?! Just look at the Expiration Date on the back:

Kidding--but it is a dumb question; it's a Seiko, it should last indefinitely, and if indefinitely should turn out to be more than ten or fifteen years, I suppose you could you could send it in for a service--whatever that might entail. Meanwhile, there are plenty of Seikos around from the 60s and 70s that are still ticking, so I wouldn't be concerned about long-term viability. People tend to die more frequently than their watches by the way. However, if you really like the watch and are especially concerned about it--buy two and put one away for later ;- )
