Do I need a DAC or can I listen directly from my iPhone plugged into the 789?

Just purchased my D50s & WOW I heard absolutely ZERO audible difference from filter to filter. Luckily I got it through Amazon Prime so time to ship this back!!!! Well, i've learned my lesson on the "benefits" of DAC's. At least for me I can't hear any difference at all.

You could just plug your phone into the back...But I wouldn't suggest it. Most Phones have not so great DACs built in so you would be amplifying a muddy signal. Even on my S10+ I notice a big difference with just a cheap portable Bluetooth DAC like the Fiio BTR3. Try that first unless your driving 300 ohm headphones.

Still rocking my LG (V20) make that V40, and I and, my sadly, the Farewell LG Mobile... I suppose I'll have to pick Samsung or Apple for that next (Tele?) Phone upgrade... What are the best USB-C to 3.5mm DACs? Or... There's the SONY, iBasso, iRiver/Astell&Kern, Shanling, etc... Wish SONY would just Walkman their new PRO Xperia phone(S)... Those are going to be great for Hybrid DSLR/Mirrorless Photo/Film small rigs (cheaper and better than one of them external (sell a kidney for one) Monitors for your Camera....

Yeah, I buy LG all the time. Beats paying 1000 to upwards of 2000 for a phone that doesn't have the same cross-board specs as LG currently promotes.
