ClaasWhat is your budget?
Also, I'd recommend against a knife set. I'd recommend one of each: chef knife, bread knife, a paring knife (not critical), kitchen shears. You can really do 90% of what you need in a kitchen with these things. A boning knife is a bonus.
By staying away from sets, you'll either save yourself some money or be able to buy nicer knives because you're buying fewer of them.

ClaasFor a pan set: Tramontina Tri-Ply. You can get an 8 piece set for about $100, or a 10 piece for $200 (if you can afford it, get the 10 piece, as it comes with a medium sized saute pan, which is important).
Also get a large, enamel coated dutch oven (Lodge makes a good one for about $50. But frankly, most brands are fine so long as you take care of them).
In addition to that, buy yourself a cheap nonstick skillet with curved sides and a decent handle. Replace it once it get's funky.

ClaasWhen I was in Germany about 13 years ago, I traveled to Solingen and went to the Wüsthof factory. I scored a bunch of essentially flawless factory seconds for incredible prices. There are visual imperfections somewhere I have yet to find on any of them, but the blade is perfect. One thing though, they won't honor their standard warranty on these knives, but that didn't matter to me. I'd imagine they still sell imperfects. I'd recommend that route for great knives at even better prices.

BobSaget88I completely agree with this comment about buying knives individually.
Go on eBay and get yourself a solid used chef's knife, or pick up something like the Victorinox here on a drop, and go with something like an Opinel paring knife which is cheap, effective, and easy to maintain. Get a wooden cutting board and keep it on your counter.
For pans, carbon steel is my main choice. I have a DeBuyer 10in that stays on my stove top. Beyond that, just a couple of stainless steel pots and pans in the 10-12in size range I've picked up over the years on sale, but none of the fancy triple-ply non-stick coated space age garbage--they don't last. An enamel coated Descoware cast iron dutch oven I found at a thrift store of all places rounds out my lineup. Personally, I like to keep things simple and easy to use. I don't have any non-stick coatings, and own nothing that can't go from stovetop to oven. I can use stainless steel utensils with all of my cookware but the dutch oven, which gets wood utensils.
Simple and effective is more useful than complex and specialized.

ClaasGo for just a few good knives instead of a whole set, in my opinion. Chefs knife, paring knife, utility knife (My favorite 3). I have recently been having good luck with cuisinart for pots/pans. Make sure the handles are riveted on and I like when they have oven abilities.

ClaasMy budget is kinda limited, but I love your guys tips. Specially the one with eBay and Trift store‘s. Also good tipp that i don’t need a set of knives. I think I will be going for a Chefs knife first and go from there. I already have a carbon steel none coated pan and I really love it so far I think I will get 1 or 2 more like that

FourdayI already thought about a Wüsthof Grand Prix II Santoku 14 cm or 17 cm. They are not to expensive, around 60-70€ but i didn't pull the trigger yet. What do you think ?

ClaasThe knife seems to have great reviews. I would highly recommend going to a cutlery shop or the like to see and handle the knife or knives that interest you. Regards
