I'm rocking a 980ti and and you can get decent framerates in most games in 1440p. But if you want to go fragging, you need a more up to date solution. Personally I'd be going for the 5700/xt or the 2070 super. But it depends on your market as well as how much cash is cluttering your house 💵

I know I am late to the discussion, but your question is missing a whole lot of essential information. Which resolution are you referring to? What games? Is price an objective? What is the rest of your build? All these things are essential to give you the best advice, and I am surprised that not more people has touched on this in their answers. To answer your question as you put it, the best right now is a RTX 2080ti. This will give you the most frames at medium to high settings. To answer your question as I assume you wanted to ask it, a AMD RX 5700 is really a good bang for the buck for most games @1080p. That is a good starting point. What you need to look for is local offers, around that price point. Sometimes you will get better offers on Nvidia cards or you will get an XT version for the same price as the non XT. Nvidia alternatives is the 1660 or 2060. Lastly, you should always check out reviews of the card you consider picking up. There are potatoes out there that you would like to avoid at any cost. Even brands like Asus and EVGA releases products you do not want to buy. Check out reviews! GL!

Go for cards like the GTX 1660 and 1650 they are very fast and well built with decent memory or go with a 2070 for something that has RTX

For 1440p gaming the RX 5700XT is amazing and at a price tag of $399> you get RTX 2070 Super performance for $100 less. Drivers can be a bit of a pain right now as its a newer card but that wont be an issue soon.

Depends on what cheap means to you. I have an RX 580 8G that does well. You can get those anywhere from 160-200 USD. Usually 170 is where it’s at. You might be able to get an RX 590 for that price as well nowadays. The Sapphire nitro is what I have, which are well reviewed. Works great for me. I can play nearly all games on high settings at 1080. Mid if you want really high frame rate. 1660 would be my other referral, but it might only be marginally better for more money.

Second hand GTX 1080's should be a a sweet spot now. Else a 1660 is a great mid-ranger for 1080p playing (2.7k at med) .
