There Are Pandas, and Then There Are Pandas.
And this isn't either of them! The Pandas we're talking about here, are watches, not bears. And what got me thinking about them (again) was a link posted this morning by @cm.rook who pointed a few of us to the very attractive (and not terribly priced) Yema "Rallygraph" Panda which, in it's most traditional arrangement, looks like the one on the left, but can also be had in the version on the right: The model on the left is a true Panda, while the model on the right is called a reverse Panda. The reason for that distinction is clear--Panda bears, only come in the first arrangement. Now at this point, everyone should be thinking about the most well-know Panda, The Rolex Panda, which is actually a Daytona, and among Rolex Daytonas, the most famous of which is the Paul Newman Daytona, which was famous first, because it was Paul's, and second because it sold at auction for $17.8 million (US Dollars). The story of that auction is well-known so I'll only...

This is a recipe I slightly modded to my liking based on the one I found on pinterest:
1 can black beans - drain and rinse well. If you don't like using the canned ones, you can use the raw beans too but you will need to soak and cook them so they have the same texture as canned beans. 2 tbsp cocoa powder 1/2 cup quick oats 1/4 tsp salt 1/3 cup pure maple syrup, honey, or agave - I use maple syrup. 4-5 dates (original recipe calls for 2 tbsp sugar) 1/4 cup coconut or vegetable oil - I use vegetable oil 2 tsp pure vanilla extract 1/2 tsp baking powder 1/2 cup to 2/3 cup chocolate chips (I use about 1/2 cup and sprinkle a few more in later)
Recipe above makes about 10 brownies in a 8*8 pan, I normally double everything up and just make them in a 13*9 pan. 10 brownies don't last too long.
Keep chocolate chips aside. Combine remaining ingredients in a food processor or a blender. If you like them to be more chewy , use a food processor. I personally use a blender because , well, I dont have a big food processor and I normally make two batches. I found the brownies closer to a real brownie when I made them with a blender. Might be personal preference though. Blend well till the mixture looks all ground up , no chunks of beans. Stir in the chips with a spatula and pour into a greased pan and sprinkle a few chocolate chips on top . Presentation is everything especially when you are faking it ;-) . Put the brownies in the middle rack and should be done in around 15-18 minutes. They might look undone sometimes but they generally firm up once you take them out .
These have been a huge hit at home and all potlucks , enjoy !!!
