Open back headphones with no leak

more_vert
Is there such thing as an open back headphone with no audio? I want to be able to hear everything around me when produce music but I don’t want anyone to hear what I’m listening to. I need it for school

Honestly, you're just fighting against physics here...sound has to go somewhere and if it's open in any way, there's going to be leakage. I guess a decent compromise would be a closed back on ear? Like a clip on. KSC75 or those Audio Technica ones on Amazon. You'd still have to have the volume relatively low, but you can hear pretty well and there isn't THAT much leak, from my experience.

Your best bet is a ear bud not a IEM played at low volume. Earbuds don't seal. Any open headphone you are going to hear well outside. I wouldn't call it leaking as by design there is nothing to block the drivers. You may get lucky with a semi closed design but you would have to ask. Something like the dekoni blue.

Earbuds like iPod Pros and Sony WX-1000 have a pass-through operating option that feeds you outside sound they pick up on tiny microphones - that way you hear outside but outside does not hear your music. IPod Pro pass through sounds more natural. Not sure if there are closed back headphones with same tech, but thats what you would need to get one-way sound.

As far as i'm concern most open back headphone will leak. You can get a close back headphone instead if you want little to no leak, or a noise cancelling headphone with definitely no leak but you won't hear anyone at all. It's just a trade off you have to take.
