Massdrop x HIFIMAN HE4XX Planar Magnetic Headphones issue with right ear peice

more_vert
i have had hifiman he4xx headphones for about a month that i got from massdrop. Recently i quickly took the wires out of the left/right ear pieces (which is fine to do on these) as the right one was sticking out a little. When i tried to place the right one back in it does not stay, there is a small metal ring that comes out but it is different to the one on the left earpiece which plugs in perfectly. This has caused it to always fall out and there is no sound coming out of the right ear. there is no way a part fell out as i have looked everywhere in the place it happened. anyone know what do to? thanks

Same here. But the Left side earcup is to the point where you can Barely hear it compared to the right one. But its not a cable issue. The Cable is able to be detached from this model, and swaped the cables, and same thing. Let Drop know about it, and they said to just check the cables again. I already told them that we did this troubleshooting method in the Original support request ticket sent to drop. Their reply:

I get the meme of "Did you plug it in"... But this just reminds me on why I don't like buying from retailer other then Amazon or Best Buy when it comes to electronics and extended warranty items. I'm glad I got him 2 back up pairs of different headphones. The Monoprice and the Panasonic. But I'm affraid I'm going to have to look elsewhere if this is going to be an ongoing problem. Looking at the 3 year extended warranty, It says you can only use it once. But its been only 4 months in, and Its only been used for the last 3 months as it was his Birthday present that I purchased in advance. What bothers me is that Had I bought this at Best Buy? It would be a trip to geek squad, and then maybe a new set of headphones that day. Amazon? Never even used their service I purchased yet, so time will tell there. But a nice set of headphones going bad in less then 2 months of sporadic use? Not cool. I was planing on purchasing the Dan Clark as an upgrade, but I'm not sure I want to do that at this point. Love to know if drop has fixed this issue for you so far. It been 3 days so far and I have only had one reply above. I hope they are just busy. But this does not bode confidence in this Headphone. I saw that the Screws inside can come lose. But with the extended warranty, I should not have to take care of things like that. Looking forward to other people's thoughts on the issues with this headphone.
